I spent about 4 years in community college of Philadelphia and received an Associates in Liberal Arts. Three of those years I tutored math and was requested very frequently.
The subjects I tutor are: Remedial math, early/ late Algebra, Precalculus, early Calculus, Statistics, and Geometry. I think my favorite/best subject to tutor is Algebra. It's the subject I am most familiar with, but I am able to do quick arithmetic.
My tutoring technique involves explaining a problem thoroughly and why exactly the steps we take make sense. I also realize most math problems have several ways and methods to solve them. If one way is too confusing, I will switch methods to adapt to the student.
