I am very happy with our experience so far with Varsity Tutors. They matched my daughter with reading specialist Mary and she is wonderful! My 10 year old daughter feels happy after her sessions and believes her tutor has already helped her.

Everything is imagined, designed, and put into reality. Everything is created. Since that day, I've been driven by the idea that I could be behind those innovative and world-altering ideas.

Through various experiences during my high school career, I have been shaped into a well-rounded and unique individual. I was hand picked to be on the Black Women's Diversity Panel at my highschool, as well as the Student Advisory Council due to my ability to stand up and educate those who do not have my experience. This has taught me to take action and invoke change to better whatever I can get my hands on. My ability to broach conversations that are uncomfortable stems from my desire for a better place to live. My collaborative personality, and approach to leadership will be an asset to your school.

I started my freshman year of high school like many do: sitting in a CADD class. Some find it boring, but I was amazed at how something could be so regimented, yet creative. Using CADD programs teaches me to think outside of the box and bring imagination to my designs. To test my skills, I became part of the Afro-Academic, Cultural, Technological, and Scientific Olympics (ACT-SO), an educational association that works toward student research and production of an individual project to be exhibited at a competition. This passion for competition and research has bettered me by feeding my hunger for knowledge and advancement. It was difficult, but I learned how to handle pressure, and confidently present my ideas to professionals. With help from my mentors from Argonne National Laboratory, I received a silver medal in computer science and a bronze in engineering. My experience in ACT-SO has instilled in me an urge to be forward-thinking, pursue topics that are sparked by my curiosity, and embrace my differences to excel. Even though I excel as an individual, I know most great products are rarely created alone. During my sophomore and junior years I competed in the Skills USA program in Engineering Technology. This helped me learn to work well in a team, which requires: recognizing strengths and weaknesses, communication, and planning. I had to assemble a project with two others; this requires constant clarification and strong explanation through writing. I have also been part of an emerging club at my school called Women in STEM, which is focused around talking with women who work within the STEM fields, as well as projects in various concentrations. Most importantly I have found my passion and career choice in the Architecture class I took at my high school. Through my wealth of experiences and recent explorations, I have been shaped and molded into a rare and uncommon individual that has a vision.
