Certified Tutor
I recently completed an MA in French Studies from New York University, following an MA in European Union Studies and a BA with High Distinction in History from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. I can tutor a wide variety of subjects, including standardized test prep, English, and French, but my favorites to work with are History and writing. The study of History is my passion, and there are few things that I enjoy more than getting the opportunity to share this passion with others. As part of my History Honors program in undergrad, I was able to help tutor other students in these subjects, including preparing for exams. I also have experience in providing peer reviews and constructive critiques in graduate level writing in multiple fields. Coming from a family of teachers, education has always been a central value in my life, and I try to use this love of learning to help create the best experience I can for my students. I believe that every tutoring session should be built around the interests and learning styles of the student to ensure that they not only learn, but hopefully come to enjoy it too. Outside of academics, I usually fill my time with reading, playing video games, exercising, and cooking.

What is your teaching philosophy?
I believe in building lessons around the students' interests and learning styles, to try to ensure that they get the most that they can out of it.
What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
My first priority would be to try to get to know them better. What drives them? How do they learn? What do they like or not like about the subject? As I learn this, I can learn to construct future sessions to best fit their interests and needs.
