I am a Posse Scholar at the University of Virginia. Posse Scholars receive full-tuition scholarships for our leadership and academic merit. I am a leader and a great team player. I have tutored in the Day in the Life program at The University of Virginia, learning from other teachers and Professors. I believe a teacher should be motivating, kind, and respectful to his student. While not being a student at UVa, I tutor in Houston, as learning and teaching are some of my passions.

What is your teaching philosophy?
My philosophy consists of driving my students to be motivated to work hard and obtain the best scores.
What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
I would lay out a clear schedule on how to strengthen a student's weakness.
How can you help a student become an independent learner?
I can help a student by showing them the tips and tricks to succeed.
How would you help a student stay motivated?
The end goal keeps a student motivated.
If a student has difficulty learning a skill or concept, what would you do?
I would be patient. Topics can get hard. I'd show him or her another way to approach the topic.
How do you help students who are struggling with reading comprehension?
I practice a lot with them and see their weaknesses.
What strategies have you found to be most successful when you start to work with a student?
Practice and see what your weaknesses are and then work on them.
How would you help a student get excited/engaged with a subject that they are struggling in?
Play educational games, not just boring work.
