What is your teaching philosophy?
It changes based on the student. Not all students work well with a particular philosophy, nor should such a philosophy be set in stone.
What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
I would look to understand the student's class, goals, and strengths/weaknesses. Then I might have them work on their normal homework with me making suggestions to get an idea of what areas they can improve on.
How can you help a student become an independent learner?
The student needs to grow, and the tutor's job is to give them to room to do so.
How would you help a student stay motivated?
Many students who get bored and lose motivation just need to adopt multiple vantage points so they can keep focused on the same goal.
