Michael: Ramapo tutor
Certified Tutor
My name is Michael and I have been a tutor since 2009. I have a passion for mathematics and I enjoy both tutoring and teaching the subject. After spending the past 10 years tutoring math, I've developed a patient and persistent approach to finding the best method to help students learn math. I graduated from Sam Houston State University with a B.S. in Mathematics and a minor in Statistical Theory. During my education, I tutored at the University's Academic Success Center and became a respected tutor. I greatly enjoy helping students understand the subject I love so much. Math is beautiful to me, and showing students how and why it works is my dream job. I am now pursuing a Masters of Science in Mathematics, and will pursue a PhD afterwards. My goal is to teach Mathematics at a University as a Professor.

What is your teaching philosophy?
Teach students not just how to do math, but how to understand math.
How can you help a student become an independent learner?
Set a strong foundation of understanding.
If a student has difficulty learning a skill or concept, what would you do?
If my first approach doesn't help the student understand, I try a different approach until progress is made, and then I use that approach more.
