I have Master degrees in economics and analytics from Georgia Tech and a BS in economics from Georgia Tech.Before coming to Stony Brook, I worked 2 years at the Department of Agriculture where I consistently used statistical and programming techniques for statistical and economic analysis.I love history, math, economics, and reading. To me, teaching provides an opportunity to motivate students to like the subject and to improve their performance through mentoring/advising. This is what inspired me to choose teaching as a career. During my time as a Learning Assistant for the University of Central Florida physics department, I tutored physics students one-on-one and in small groups, and held class review sessions. I believe that my role as a tutor is not to show students the answer, but to guide them as they reach it themselves. I’m currently a rising senior and Presidential Merit Scholar at the University of Southern California. I’m studying biomedical engineering and planning on combining my interests in technology and medicine in my aspirations of becoming a physician.Nonetheless, education and mentorship is a huge part of my life. Throughout my entire college career, I’ve been teaching grades ranging from 3rd grade to high school about subjects ranging from life sciences, physics, and engineering concepts. I’ve also gone through my fair share of standardized testing ranging from the PSAT to the MCAT and really believe I’ve come to learn the tips and tricks you need to succeed on such tests. As a result, I have informally helped a lot of my younger peers through their academic and mental preparation for these exams. I also am very familiar with the college application process and the pre-med/engineering life following, and I would love to be able to mentor/assist anyone who is thinking of a career path in engineering or medicine, or even both as I am pursuing!I’m excited to be able to apply what I know in a meaningful way through tutoring or mentoring, and I look forward to hopefully helping and getting to know anyone who believes they can benefit from my experiences.And of course, as they say at my university, whatever test or course you are going through……Fight on!

In 2005, as an early admit student from high school, I took my very first college math class, Finite Mathematics. I was hooked, instantly. I completely reevaluated my life plans to focus on becoming a mathematician and teacher. I graduated from Elmira College in Upstate New York with a dual major in Mathematics and Philosophy, and moved directly to Arizona where I began teaching at a private boarding school outside of Mayer. With six years of private tutoring experience at both the college and high school level, and three years experiences as a high school mathematics teacher, I bring a wealth of personal and professional experience with me. As much as I love mathematics (I can quite literally say I have made it the focus of my entire life!) I am also an amateur wood carver, primarily working with walking and hiking sticks, and I am an intermediate swing dancer, having competed and taught classes across Arizona.
