Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I reviewed concepts related to calculating the angle or sides of real world problems using trigonometric functions."
"The session went very well, going over homework (on calculus concepts) and preparing for a test by going through the topics the student particularly felt he needed help with. Great student as usual."
"We covered trigonometric functions and identities including sine, cosine, tangent, co-secant, secant, and cotangent formulas."
"The student's Pre-Calc work focused on complex polynomial analysis. He understood the concepts, but had a bit of difficulty with understanding the language the problem used. Carefully reading, we took each sentence or section of a sentence and related it to a mathematical expression or concept. He understood the concept without difficulty once we repeated this procedure with a handful of problems."
"The student and I worked through a review sheet for his upcoming test. There was a very broad range of topics covered on the test, though we focused on rational functions and the properties of rational functions. I think he has the tools to succeed on this test, although there are several skills that would help immensely if he were more fluent, including factoring and operations with complex numbers. I'm looking forward to seeing how he does on his test on 10/15."
"We went over review questions for the student's midterm, dealing with determining amplitude/period, simplifying trig expressions, and finding angle values for trig equations. He is comfortable with finding amplitude and period, and needs some practice with using identities to substitute for trig functions. He can learn to be creative on how to approach the questions, since he is able to solve the questions when given direction. He's gotten a lot better at finding exact angle values! Also, he got an A on his previous exam!"
