Trigonometry Tutors

I am currently researching in the Pediatrics and Immunology department of the Mount Sinai Hospital. First of all, due to the nature of this job, my hours are very flexible so your son/daughter will get the utmost attention from me during the week/weekend. I have a firm grasp on all subjects regarding Mathematics up to college level Calculus 2. As far as English is concerned, since my degree is both a science and humanities degree, I have mastered how to write persuasively, informatively, and creatively.

I can help these students build confidence and find the best methods they need to succeed. At Cornell University, where I completed my undergraduate studies, I was a math tutor at the campus's official tutoring center. I helped a range of students. Some were English majors and some majored in Physics.

I love teaching, and making science accessible to everyone is very important to me. I like to take away the serious and abstract nature of the material, and make it relevant to your personal interests. This has worked very well - some of my students even made me cookies*! I strongly believe that anyone can be good at math and science, and during my time as a tutor, I have proved myself right on several occasions. In my free time, I enjoy listening to music, irritating my girlfriend with my guitar playing, reading just about anything, and practising some sweet Taekwondo moves. *Payment of cookies is not necessary or expected.

My tutoring techniques have been so appreciated by the faculty and staff at Morehouse that I was requested to be a personal tutor for at least 2 courses. My academic skills reach beyond Mathematics, as I have been on the honor roll throughout my entire academic career. I've also worked for laboratories at Massachusetts Institute of Technology and California Institute of Technology. My tutoring methods cater to every student's needs individually. I feel as though there is no cookie cutter method for tutoring students, rather each student's needs and abilities be assessed before developing a tutoring system that ensures he or she will make steps to a greater understanding of the material.

He plays rugby at Wash U, which is a far cry from the fencing he did five days a week in high school. Odd sports aren't his only concern, though: in high school, he also received a National Merit Scholarship, was nominated as a Presidential Scholar, and scored a perfect 36 on his ACT, a 2370 on his SAT, and top "5" scores on nine AP tests. In the past, he's privately tutored chemistry, taught Sunday school for second and third graders, and coached younger students in music as the trombone section leader at his high school. In the summer of 2011, he ran his own ACT tutoring business, raising student scores an average of four composite points.

My favorite subjects are Math, History, and Social Sciences. I grew up in Chicago and recently moved to Phoenix in order to escape the winters and enjoy the sunshine. So far I have not been disappointed. In my free time I practice my trumpet, play ice hockey and volunteer at my local animal shelter..

I would usually teach native or fluent Spanish speakers but I also taught basic conversational skills to students that had little to no Spanish background. I would come up with the lesson plans and implement them in a small classroom setting. I believe that I am a great tutor because I have a simplistic approach to many things. In other words, I try and make things as simple as possible first so that my students can understand the fundamentals first and then move on to more complex things.

There are no stupid questions. My job as a teacher is to help students find their often unique way to understand, appreciate, and use Mathematics. Likewise, there is no single best way to teach or understand Mathematics. Everyone learns at a different pace and in a different way, so I strive above all to manifest the patience and enthusiasm required to best nurture the spirit of Mathematics.

Additionally, in my time I have tutored children with a variety of needs (Autism, hearing impairment, deafness, ADD, ADHD, dyslexia, etc.). When I tutor, I focus on trying to get the child to gain confidence in themselves. If they cannot figure out the problem right off the bat, I will try and help them learn to do process of elimination and learn to get the correct answer. Furthermore, I have tutored in a variety of different styles depending on the needs of the student.

I went on to work for another, more individualized company as a lead academic tutor in test prep and multiple subjects. I was recruited by an online tutoring firm to write and perform their ACT prep video series. I currently assist students in Liberal Arts Studies through the Writing Center at the Juilliard School, and I continue to teach lessons in music. My enthusiasm for working with students continues to grow as I meet more capable, intelligent young people who often just need insight into how to tackle the mass of material they receive in the classroom.
