Adam graduated from Lafayette College with a Bachelor's Degree in Government & Law. He has worked in several positions in the education field over the last eight years, including serving as a tutor and mentor for at-risk students in Philadelphia. Most recently, he was a Director at a tutoring company in Pennsylvania, where he assisted hundreds of students in meeting their educational goals. In his spare time, Adam enjoys watching sports, attending concerts, and volunteering for a youth baseball organization.
A native Texan, Adriana is a graduate of Northwestern University, where she obtained her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and International Studies. Before joining Varsity Tutors, she worked as in-school support for at-risk students and their families. She is a native Spanish speaker and loves to learn new languages in her spare time. Apart from Spanish, Adriana has delved into French and Korean.
Alexis is driven by a passion for education and a love for helping people. Originally from Los Angeles, Alexis most recently was an Office Manager and Educational Consultant for a Learning Center. Alexis believes that every child can accomplish their educational goals when given support and the right tools for learning. She is excited to be part of the Varsity Tutors team, and looks forward to providing families with the help they need. In her spare time Alexis enjoys cooking, running, music and travel as well as spending time with her family and friends.
Alicia is an experienced educator who has worked in a variety of teaching and mentoring roles. Over the course of eight years, Alicia specialized in one-on-one tutoring for standardized test prep. For five of those years, she also taught in the classroom, within a learning center, and at an education-oriented nonprofit. Alicia is honored to have the opportunity to continue helping students to achieve their academic and professional goals as a Director with Varsity Tutors. In her free time, she enjoys reading, running, and spending time with her friends and family.
Alison is a native New Yorker who currently resides in beautiful Rhode Island. She earned her undergraduate degree in Psychology from the University of Rhode Island. While completing her studies she grew a passion for working with individuals in a learning environment outside of the traditional classroom. This passion led her to roles in career recruiting and counseling and more recently education administration. Alison spent the last three years as Director of Education and Student Services in the vocational training field, managing a population of over 300 students and 20 faculties. Alison knows what it takes to help every student find his or her path and succeed. She has extensive experience overseeing the academic journey of a student while working hand in hand with their families throughout the process. Alison and her husband enjoy hiking with their dog on weekends, going out to eat, and visiting all the different beaches in Rhode Island.
Allison is a graduate of Rutgers University with a BA in English and a certification to teach English Language Arts to grades 5 through 12. Allison has worked as a private tutor to help students reach their academic goals for over 6 years. Before joining Varsity Tutors, she provided professional development and curriculum modification training to other private tutors. She has also worked as a reading development specialist, helping students of all ages to develop and improve their reading speed and comprehension. Currently, Allison is pursuing her Master’s Degree in Elementary Education to round out her educational background. Allison enjoys consulting with tutors to help them tailor each student’s academic experience and maximize results, and it is this passion that drives her each day. In her spare time, you can find Allison reading a good book, preparing a delicious meal, or traveling with her husband.
Originally from Denver, Amanda has a BA in Psychology and Elementary Education from the University of Colorado at Boulder, and holds her Colorado K-6 Teaching License. She has spent the last 8 years in education, including as a third grade teacher and tutor. Amanda believes passionately that everyone can learn, and everyone deserves a top notch education with high quality, effective teachers. Every day she looks forward to the opportunity to recruit outstanding tutors and directors to our dedicated team! When not on this quest, Amanda enjoys photography, designing a home made from shipping containers, camping, and spending time with her two amazing children and husband.
Amanda is from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and graduated from Duquesne University with a Bachelor's Degree in Marketing and a Master's Degree in Elementary Education. She has been a third grade teacher in Charlotte, North Carolina for the past three years. She has also worked in admissions at a higher education institute and is extremely passionate about ensuring each child and student has an equal opportunity for a high level of education. In her free time she enjoys being outdoors, traveling, spending time with her family, and walking dogs at the Humane Society.
Amanda has Bachelor’s degrees in both Journalism and Political Science from Arizona State University and a Master’s in Secondary Education with an emphasis in the Social Studies from Northern Arizona University. While working for a national tutoring firm for nearly four years, Amanda provided educational support to hundreds of families. She is committed to helping students reach their educational goals while ensuring that families are confident in their educational choices. Having grown up in a Marine Corps family, she lived all around the U.S. and overseas and still enjoys traveling to new places. Apart from work, Amanda enjoys running, hiking and spending time with her friends and family.
My Name is Amanda Persaud, I have a bachelor’s degree in Child Psychology from the University of Central Florida, I am currently pursuing masters in the same field. I hope to one day open my own practice for children who need help handling life’s curves. Prior to working with Varsity Tutors I started out as a tutor myself and worked my way up to the director of education with an after school program at Sunridge Elementary. I have also worked with Sylvan Learning Centers as a DOE. I believe that every child learns and grows differently and I want to provide the support that will allow each and every one to reach their full potential. Sometime’s all it takes is someone to understand and listen to what’s going on to make a difference. Education has always been a great passion of mine, when I’m not in school or working on my career I love to experiment in the kitchen with new recipes, discover up and coming artists in the music scene and spend time with my loved ones.
Ami completed an accelerated bachelors program and received a degree in Criminal Justice. She worked as a substance abuse counselor for over three years before making the transition into human resources. She holds a deep belief that students can succeed and grow if given support and encouragement by the educators in their lives, especially for those students who do not fit the standard student mold. This is evident through her own education and she is proud to be on the Varsity Tutors team. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, writing, and spending time with her family.
Having worked as a tutor, recruiter, and director for Varsity Tutors, Andrew now guides strategic planning of the company's long-term and short-term goals. He received both his Biomedical Engineering and MBA degrees from Washington University in St. Louis. His personal passion for learning is in the realm of mathematics education, where persistence and hard work are keys to success. In his free time, Andrew enjoys running, playing basketball, and dabbling in graphic design.
Annie Rogers graduated from St. Olaf College with a BA in Theatre and Communications. After college, she worked with kids at a prominent Midwest children’s theatre in several capacities including educator and manager. While she has moved away from professional theatre, throughout her professional career, her employers utilized her experience in working with others by consistently defining her roll to include training, mentoring, and customer service; preferring to help others achieve their own success. In her spare time, Annie continues her pursuit of the creative by dabbling in design and craftwork.
April holds a degree in Liberal Studies with an emphasis in Elementary Education from California State University, Chico. She is certified to teach K-6 in the state of California. With over 7 years of experience in the educational field, April has worked in several different avenues of the industry. She began her career as a tutor, while also substitute teaching. She was a Reading Specialist for children in grades 3-6, during which time she helped many students graduate out of her intervention program. April then moved on to become a Director of Education for a learning center. April is passionate about helping every student reach their maximum academic potential, and believes everyone should have the opportunity to achieve their goals. In her free time, April likes to spend time with her family, travel and enjoy the great outdoors.
April has a Bachelor of Arts in Secondary Social Studies Education from Nicholls State University. Originally from Louisiana, she holds a Louisiana Teaching Certificate. Before joining Varsity Tutors, she worked in Sales and Administration. Due to her background, April understands the importance of customer service and education. April is an experienced special education teacher, tutor, advocate, program manager for adults with disabilities and tutoring director. April holds a Bachelor of Arts in Religious Studies and a Master of Arts in Special Education. April has worked in the field of Education for over 16 years and specializes with finding the appropriate academic setting for children with special needs. She has supported hundreds of students with their tutoring needs, advocacy needs and overall educational goals/objectives. In her free time, April enjoys traveling, reading, writing and spending time with her son.
Ashley has loved learning and teaching others even as a child. After earning a Bachelor’s Degree in English Literature from the University Of South Florida, she worked as an independent tutor as well as an employee at several tutoring companies. Before joining Varsity Tutors, Ashley was a Director of Tutoring Operations at an online tutoring company. A born and raised Floridian, Ashley will never outgrow her love for Disney World and all things related. Her downtime is spent with her husband and dogs and painting pop culture nostalgia.
Originally from Philadelphia, Ben earned a Bachelor’s of Arts in Government from Cornell University and then made his permanent home in Boston. He has worked in higher education, tutoring, test prep, and admissions for over 8 years. Most recently he served as the Faculty Manager for New England for Kaplan Test Prep. When he’s not helping students meet with excellent tutors, he enjoys watching baseball, dining out, and arguing about movies with his wife.
With almost a decade of tutoring experience under his belt, Brett is a committed educator who has spent the majority of his career working in test prep. He began his tutoring career as an undergraduate student, and has stayed active in the field ever since. He graduated from Sonoma State University with BAs in History and Anthropology, and is finishing his MA in Anthropology at San Diego State University. He managed over 80 tutors and teachers as an Academic Coordinator for a leading national test prep company, and more recently has acted as SDSU Anthropology’s Education Outreach Coordinator. When he’s not working, Brett is often found attending all kinds of sporting events, playing board games, working on his cooking, and even occasionally speaking his mind on the radio.
Caitlin began with Varsity Tutors as a tutor, where she worked with students on test prep and writing for almost two years. In this role, Caitlin enjoyed meeting new families and helping students achieve their academic and testing goals. While pursuing her Master’s Degree in English from the University of Texas at Arlington, Caitlin moved to the role of Associate Director of Recruitment, where she gets to meet potential tutors and use her tutoring expertise to find talented and well-developed tutors who will carry on helping students move towards their goals and achieve their potential. Caitlin also enjoys using her note-taking skills, developed over years of English studies, and organizational talents in this role. An avid reader, Caitlin is also rather theatrical and can often be found in her spare time at a play, performing in a play, or reading backstage while waiting for her cue.
Caroline holds a Master of Fine Arts degree in Creative Writing from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from St. Lawrence University. A certified English teacher, Caroline implemented and managed arts programming in two Chicago public schools prior to working with Varsity Tutors. She is passionate about education that speaks to students' unique interests, backgrounds and abilities. When not at work, she enjoys cooking, exploring the city of Chicago with friends, reading, visiting family, and watching the Blackhawks.
A lifelong resident of Minnesota, Cassandra has spent her entire professional career in education and is passionate about improving education access and quality for all students. As a leader in her field, Cassandra has led a regionally accredited university, served as a adjunct faculty member for an area university, and served as the Regional Director for multiple nationally recognized learning centers. She earned a Bachelor's degree in Education from St. Olaf College, a Master's degree in Public Administration, and continues to pursue her Doctoral degree in Higher Education Leadership. With a passion for serving families, Cassandra has over fifteen years of professional experience. The Director position at Varsity Tutors enables Cassandra to continue helping students find educational solutions and to reach their academic goals. Cassandra enjoys spending time biking with her husband, camping with her twin daughters, and travelling the world.
Cathryn holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from The University of Iowa where she also completed the institution's prestigious Creative Writing Track program with a concentration in Creative Nonfiction Writing. She is a strong advocate for opportunities in education as well as an experienced journalist and writer. She is very proud to be part of the Varsity Tutors team and currently resides in St. Louis, Missouri. In her spare time, Cathryn enjoys cheering on the Cardinals, playing music, running, and spending time with family and friends.
Charlee has a love for children and a passion for education. Together, these two traits drive her to help children obtain the skills they need to be successful students. She has a Bachelor's degree in Biology from the University of Mississippi. Before being appointed the Phoenix Regional Director of Varsity Tutors, she directed a tutoring center in Dallas, Texas and was able to guide more than 500 families a year toward their academic goals. She works closely with students, parents, teachers, and the best tutors to build the academic skills and confidence children need to reach their potential. Charlee enjoys being active in her community and is involved with several local organizations. She spends her free time with friends and family or traveling.
Originally from the Central Coast of California, Christa moved down to San Diego to pursue her degree at Point Loma Nazarene University. During college, she took the opportunity to study a year abroad and attended the American Business School in Paris, France. After graduating with her B.A. in International Developmental Studies, Christa decided to use her skills in administration and passion for helping others in the education field. Starting out as a teacher's assistant, Christa worked her way up to management. Before joining Varsity Tutors, Christa was a Center Director for a national tutoring company. She celebrates the little accomplishments each student makes along the way to academic success, knowing that each step is vital to the next. In Christa's free time, she enjoys spending time with her husband and two young daughters, traveling, and speaking French.
Originally from Buffalo, New York, Corinna moved to Arizona and earned a Bachelors Degree from Arizona State University in Humanities. Before joining Varsity Tutors, Corinna gained experience in sales, customer service and teaching. During her time teaching, Corinna was an advocate for extra-curricular learning tools such as independent tutoring or learning lab style instruction. Apart from work, Corinna enjoys cooking, working out and spending time with her family and friends.
I was born and raised in Colorado and have my Elementary Education Teaching License from Colorado. I moved with my husband and 2 sons to Washington state in October of 2012. I am obtaining my Master's Degree in School Counseling. In my free time I enjoy spending time with my family, reading, going to the beach, and exploring all the interesting adventures that Washington has to offer!
Dorothy is a native Atlantan and loves living only 5 hours from the beach in the sunny south. She enjoys travel and spending time with her husband, 2 sons and 2 dogs and is a wine enthusiast. She has extensive experience in education and spent the last 6 years teaching 4th and 5th grades. She was the Recruiting Administrator for a large Atlanta firm and especially enjoyed the summer intern program.
Doug has been passionate about technology and telecommunications from an earlier age. After graduating from the University of Victoria he worked at Royal Roads University where he was a key member in developing their first generation of custom Learning Management Systems tools for online learning. It was at Royal Roads University that Doug discovered the field of Distributed Learning and was captivated with the idea of improving lives using advanced online educational tools. With advancements in technology happening at an incredibly fast pace, Doug left the Educational sector for opportunities to work with companies such as America Online, Linked In, Linden Labs, UBC and DivX on innovative products. His passion for learning & education was still unabated though, and so he began working with Varsity Tutors to scale, extend, expand and improve their online tools.
Emily holds a Master of Education from Northeastern University and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Oregon. She has served both K-12 and college students in various roles. Before coming to Varsity Tutors she was an Admissions Advisor at a nursing college, an Education Outreach Coordinator for a non-profit, and a traveling consultant for her sorority. Education is Emily's passion and she enjoys helping students and families make smart choices about their educational goals. Outside of work she enjoys spending time with her husband, family and friends, traveling, cooking, college football and volunteering.
Eric has a B.A. in Classical Civilizations from Harvard University, an M.A. in Cultural Anthropology from The New School for Social Research, and an M.S. in Library and Information Science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He has worked as a copy editor for Duke University Press, an academic librarian, a researcher, a writer, a test-prep coordinator, and a college instructor. Eric has been a professional tutor for over a decade, and he loves teaching. As the Director of Learning Tools, Eric works with a team of tutors, editors, and content experts to develop free practice tests and diagnostic tools for Varsity Tutors. In his spare time, he likes to read, write, study ancient languages, play board games with his friends and family, and go on walks with his wife and two dogs.
Originally from Philadelphia, Erin has worked in several areas of education. She graduated from St. Olaf College with majors in Spanish and Sociology and went on to complete her teaching credentials through the University of St. Thomas. Erin taught Kindergarten and 5th grade in Minneapolis Public Schools before moving to Los Angeles where she become the director of a private learning center. She enjoys helping students reach their maximum potential by providing strong educational support. In her spare time, Erin enjoys spending time with her friends, going to the theater and traveling.
Genevieve obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Advertising/Public Relations from Penn State University and a Master of Arts degree in Transpersonal Psychology with an emphasis in Creativity and Innovation from Sofia University. She has enjoyed working in many facets of higher education including Admissions, Academic Advising, Career Services, and Alumni Relations. She is passionate about helping students identify and achieve their educational and professional goals. In her free time she enjoys the outdoors, travel, yoga, horse rescue and rehabilitation, reading, and hanging out with her two dogs.
Gina earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from California State University, Long Beach. Before joining the team at Varsity Tutors, Gina taught middle school and high-school Social Science for 6 years, and also owned and operated her own tutoring company. Having been a teacher, Gina understands what it takes to help every student achieve their academic goals and is dedicated to helping them meet those goals. Outside of work, she enjoys exercising, jogging, cooking, traveling, and spending time with her family.
Originally from St. Louis, Greg has spent the past 10 years developing a passion for marketing. After obtaining his B.S. in Business Management from Babson College, Greg worked in Investment Banking for several years before making the jump to marketing strategy and analytics with a global digital advertising agency. Before joining Varsity Tutors, Greg split his time between San Francisco and New York working for a multinational technology company in its sales strategy team for 4 years. Outside the office, he enjoys watching baseball, learning the drums and mountain biking.
Heather Bucy earned a Bachelor of Science Degree from Youngstown State University. She has spent the last 17 years working in supplemental education leading tutors from learning centers in Boardman, Ohio, Chicago, IL, and Pittsburgh, PA. Throughout her career, Heather has shown a strong desire to help all students, regardless of age or ability, reach their full potential and become successful, independent learners. Spending time with family, traveling, relaxing at the beach, and reading are all favorite pastimes Heather enjoys, in addition to her new hobby, yoga.
James believes the fastest way to excellence is education. During the more than 10 years he has spent working in higher education he encountered students over and over again who were willing to work hard, to go the extra mile, but struggled to find someone to help them in those endeavors. James is utilizing the vast resources at Varsity Tutors to ensure that those students, parents, and teachers who are willing to put in the work have partners willing to help them achieve their goals. James spends every second he can with his wife and two boys and enjoys film, music and sports.
After growing up in Newport Beach, CA Jean graduated from California State University, Long Beach with a B.A in Elementary Education. For more than 7 years he has been working with students and families from a wide variety of backgrounds to further their educational goals. Education is Jean's passion and he has enjoyed making it his career. As a director and teacher, he has managed and helped shape private tutoring companies, after school programs, and supplemental education services. Jean has had the privilege to work with hundreds of students and each has impacted his life in a positive and professional way. He believes every student has the right to learn and be taught in the way he or she needs to be successful and feel good about themselves. In his free time Jean enjoys surfing, soccer, playing guitar, and spending time with his family.
A graduate of St. Olaf College with a Bachelor's Degree in English and Theatre Arts, Jenn has worked with children of all ages over the past 10 years. Following college she served as an acting instructor for one of the Midwest's largest non-profit theatre companies for youth. She has experience in private tutoring, homeschooling and has been the director of her own private learning center. Most recently Jenn served as an Educational Consultant at Lindamood-Bell Learning Processes. In her spare time Jenn enjoys acting, graphic design, attending theatre and spending time with her husband and friends.
A native New Yorker, Jenna holds a Masters of Science in Teaching with a concentration in Adolescent Education from Pace University and a Bachelors Degree in Management from Binghamton University. Jenna is an experienced teacher and Learning Center Director. She is certified to teach 6th through 12th grade Mathematics in the States of New York and New Jersey. Jenna spent two years as a middle school teacher in New Jersey. Jenna has worked with hundreds of students and is committed to continue helping students reach their academic goals. In her free time Jenna enjoys baking, golfing, arts and crafts and spending time with her new puppy!
Jennie is a committed advocate of education and has worked in the field for almost ten years. Prior to joining the Varsity Tutors team, Jennie worked in literacy development and district-wide program implementation with special needs children in underserved communities. She also worked as the director of education and training in learning centers all around the country, and recently assisted in education and program development at a natural history museum. In her spare time Jennie loves to read, visit museums, explore the outdoors, make art, and volunteer.
Jennifer has earned a Bachelor's Degree from Trinity University in Early Childhood Education and is currently continuing her education to earn a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education with a concentration in Special Education from Pfeiffer University. She has over 19 years of experience in a variety of educational positions, including Elementary Teacher, Director of a Learning Center, and an Employment Consultant for High School Students & Adults with Special Needs. As an educator, Jennifer has had the wonderful experience of teaching a variety of ages from preschoolers to adults. Her passion for teaching is based on helping the student understand the concepts in the way he learns best. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, traveling, flea markets & thrifting, refurbishing furniture, and decorating.
Jennifer is originally from Colorado, but currently calls Wyoming home, although her family still lives down south. She considers herself a lifelong learner and believes that education is the most valuable tool anyone can ever give themselves. She has spent the majority of her professional career in the fields of sales and customer service; but found her passion for higher education through her most recent position. Jennifer has spent the last several years as a nationwide admissions representative for a college in Wyoming. She has been able to help many students achieve their dream of going to college, when they never thought it would be possible. When she is not working she enjoys spending time with her husband, friends and family, and their two dogs. She is an avid reader and she loves yoga, gymnastics, traveling, and anything outdoorsy.
Originally from St. Louis, Jeramy has spent most of his education and career in the field of teaching, recruiting, and educational opportunities in many different places around the world. While attending Brigham Young University-Idaho, Jeramy completed a Bachelor's degree in English and a minor in French. He taught French for three years at two separate universities and went on to obtain a Maste'rs degree in International Education from Brigham Young University. During this time, he was a regional manager for a global ESL company, recruiting and training teachers who taught English throughout the world. After moving back to St. Louis, Jeramy started and continues his Doctorate degree in Higher Education Administration from Saint Louis University. Jeramy has a strong passion for teaching and improving the world of education. Apart from work, Jeramy enjoys spending time with his wife and family, playing and watching sports, serving in his local church, and traveling to new places.
A graduate of George Mason University with a Bachelor’s Degree in English, Jessica has worked in admissions and educational sales management for more than 15 years. She began her foray into the scholastic arena as a regional manager for a national test prep company, segued into college recruitment, and immediately prior to joining Varsity Tutors, she served as Enrollment Supervisor for a nationwide reading program. Utilizing a consultative approach, Jessica’s passion is helping students by identifying and understanding their needs and finding the best solutions to aid in academic success. Too often, the process of learning is dreaded rather than embraced; Jessica is proud that Varsity Tutors provides students the opportunity to change that perspective in a positive way. In her free time, Jessica loves riding her motorcycle, gardening, and writing.
As a child, Jessie always loved school and dreamed of a career in education. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary and Theater Education at the University of Arizona in Tucson and immediately began her work as an elementary school teacher, working primarily with students in second through fifth grades. During this time Jessie also worked as a private academic and test prep tutor, both at the elementary and high school levels. After many years in the public school system, she transitioned to private education and is honored to be with Varsity Tutors. Jessie is an avid seamstress and quilter, loves crafting and creating of any kind, but especially enjoys laughing, playing, and snuggling with her 18 nieces and nephews.
Julie is a certified teacher in Illinois with over 10 years of experience in tutoring and education management. After graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and a Bachelor of Science degree in Education, she taught in the classroom for two years while providing tutoring services to local students after school. Julie found that she was passionate about tutoring and moved into a position as Education Director of a local learning center. Julie has helped hundreds of students reach their goals of academic success and enjoys working with Varsity Tutors to provide specialized tutoring instruction to students in the New York metro area. In her free time, Julie enjoys a good game of scrabble, watching movies, playing euchre, and trying new recipes.
Originally from Long Island New York, Justine holds a Master of Science in Education, an Advanced Degree Certificate in Students with Special Needs and Bachelor of Arts in Public Relations. Before joining Varsity Tutors, Justine worked in several areas of education, including teaching, tutoring, mentoring, as well as a coordinator of a private learning center. She has always worked to provide educational support for the families of the students she has served. She believes that every student can achieve success given the correct tools and motivation, and Justine enjoys being instrumental in the process of equipping students to achieve their academic goals. In her free time Justine enjoys reading and spending time with her family. Always a sports enthusiast she has recently started boxing as a form of personal fitness.
A native of Austin, Texas, Kailynn holds a BA in English from Texas State University. Before moving to Nashville, Kailynn spent 7 years gaining valuable experience in the many facets of education. She has previously been a nanny, tutor, daycare teacher, middle school English teacher, and most recently the Director of Education for another learning center. With so many perspectives, she believes in supplemental education for all ages, as it can truly impact self-esteem and confidence, no matter how old you are. Kandace believes children should be allowed every opportunity to succeed. She has a Master's Degree in Education from California State University, Sacramento. For over 15 years, Kandace has worked helping children and families in the Early Childhood Education, supplemental Education Services, and Higher Education settings. She is dedicated to empowering students to set and achieve educational and life goals. She enjoys volunteering in her community and spending time with her friends and family.
Originally from Pittsburgh, Kara has worked in various sectors of the education field since graduating with her Bachelor's degree from the University of Notre Dame. Her experiences in education include two years serving as a teacher, tutor, and mentor in high-need schools in St. Petersburg, Florida, and Pittsburgh. Prior to joining Varsity Tutors, she was the Coordinator of two private learning centers and worked to provide educational support for hundreds of families. When she is not devoting time to these educational pursuits, Kara enjoys practicing yoga, watching sports, and spending time with family and friends.
Kara received her BS in Physiological Science from the University of California Los Angeles before leaving the southern California sun for the bustling city of Boston. A science specialist, Kara has experience in medical research and familiarity with the MCAT exam, coupled with a passion for academics and student learning. As a member of Varsity Tutors’ Learning Tools team, Kara serves as an authority on biology, chemistry, and physics to ensure the reliability of our practice exams and other online content. In her free time, Kara volunteers as the Northeast Regional Director for US Quidditch and plays for her local team, Q.C. Boston.
Karli earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Humboldt State University in Religious Studies. As an undergraduate, Karli worked in Admissions for Humboldt State University counseling current and prospective students. Following college she continued on at the University in the Center for International Programs where she worked with international students and educational advisors from all over the world. Before joining Varsity Tutors, Karli was an Education Coordinator and Marketing Director for a national performing arts academy. Karli believes in the importance of education and is passionate on seeing students succeed in reaching their academic and personal goals. Outside of work, Karli is an avid reader and book collector who loves traveling, dance theater, cheering on the San Francisco Giants, and spending time with family and friends.
Katelyn has earned a Bachelor's Degree from Purdue University in Sociology and a Master's in Management from University of Phoenix. She has over 10 years of experience working in collegiate education, recent positions include Director of Career Services, Nursing Admissions Advisor, and Student Services Counselor. Katelyn enjoys working with students of all ages and helping them achieve their academic goals. She has always been a big supporter of tutoring and makes sure everyone successfully reaches their goals. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, watching movies, playing card and board games, camping, and walking her dog.
Kathryn has been a professional in the educational field for over ten years. She earned her BA in Childhood Education with a concentration in Social Studies from Elmira College. She has experience teaching various grade levels and as an ESOL teacher and tutor. Prior to joining the Varsity Tutors team, she was the Learning Center Manager of a growing learning center and helped many students achieve academic success by pairing them with their ideal tutor and role-model. She is passionate aboutveducation and helping all students gain confidence and develop their own love of learning. In her free time, Kathryn enjoys spending time with her husband, son, family, and friends. She also loves dance, traveling, and exploring beautiful Colorado.
Originally from Los Angeles, California, Katie earned a BA in Psychology from the University of California Los Angeles. Katie currently holds more than 6 years of teaching and tutoring experience. She has previously worked as a teacher, an SAT tutor, an assistant teacher, and a math specialist in an elementary school. Before accepting her new role with Varsity Tutors, Katie relocated to San Antonio to continue her work in teaching. She is passionate about education and about ensuring that every student has an opportunity to succeed. Katie is committed to helping all of her students gain confidence and advance in their education and feels that the value of good teaching and tutoring is immeasurable. In her free time, Katie enjoys running, reading, playing with her dogs, and watching football.

Before joining the Varsity Tutors team, she worked with a patient-to-patient mentoring program supporting people with chronic illness and as a technical support analyst for a software company. Katie is excited for the opportunity to work for an organization that advocates for and supports education. In her free time, Katie enjoys trying out local restaurants, hiking and traveling with her husband.
Kayla Rabjohns has a passion for working closely with people and helping others reach success. Kayla has been in teaching positions for most of her life doing everything from teaching private art classes to working with young students on comprehension skills to tutoring college students. Before becoming an Associate Director, Kayla earned a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature with an emphasis in Servant Leadership and was a tutor with Varsity Tutors. She has immensely enjoyed both positions and all the relationships she has gained. Kayla and her husband enjoy camping, rock climbing, and mountain bike riding in their free time.
Kelisen holds a bachelors degree in Public Administration from Evangel University and a Juris Doctorate from the University of Missouri School of Law. Prior to joining the Varsity Tutors team, she was an insurance defense attorney for a mid-size firm in Saint Louis, Missouri. She believes that a great education is one of the most important gifts we can give people. She loves encouraging students and families to reach this goal. In her spare time, Kelisen enjoys rooting on the Saint Louis Blues, spending time with her dachshund Gigi, and traveling to visit friends and family.
Originally from Atlanta, Georgia, Kellie earned a BA in Secondary Education and History from the University of North Georgia. She currently holds both a Georgia Educator’s Certificate in Secondary and Middle Grades Education as well as a Texas Teaching Certificate. Before joining Varsity Tutors, Kellie was the Director of an Early Childhood Education Center for over ten years. During this time, she worked with fellow educators to build a learning environment that catered to the evolving needs of enrolled students and their families. She is committed to working with clients to ensure that their individual educational needs are met. Through her years of experience in the education industry, Kellie knows that with the right combination of hard work and a tailored support system all students can reach their educational goals. In her free time, Kellie loves to cook, read and spend time with her family.
Kesha has been an advocate of education and a professional in the field for over five years. Prior to joining the Varsity Tutors team, Kesha was the Director of an educational center in Dallas and helped hundreds of students achieve academic success. She is an experienced tutor and teacher and, over the years, has had the privilege of working with students ranging from early learners through the college level. She believes that every student can succeed; they simply need to understand how they learn best and be given the proper tools to execute their path to success.
Kimberly is a former classroom English teacher who has taught in Ohio, California, and Germany. Before coming to Varsity Tutors, Kim worked at a university assisting students in reaching their educational goals. She also has many years of tutoring experience in English, Spanish, and Music. Kimberly plays several instruments and is still passionate about music. She and her husband of 23 years enjoy traveling, reading, and movies. Kimberly also enjoys knitting, learning new languages, taking care of her two dogs, and helping students succeed academically.
Raised in Missouri, Kimble received a B.A. from Washington University in St. Louis. After serving in the U.S. Army, he and his wife joined the Taliesin Fellowship of the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation in Spring Green, Wisconsin and Scottsdale, Arizona. Returning to St. Louis, he established the architectural design and planning firm of Kimble A. Cohn & Associates and acted as Principal-in-Charge from 1974 to 2005. He enjoys the local music scene of Tucson and hiking the Arizona wilderness.
A native Texan, Kristen holds a BA in Theatre Arts from St. Edwards University. Before heading west to California and accepting her new role with Varsity Tutors, Kristen accrued over a decade’s worth of experience working in all aspects of education. She has previously worked as a Teaching Assistant with University of Texas Charter Schools, a Teaching Artist in Residence with Creative Action and VSA Arts of Texas, a tutor with Sylvan Learning Centers, Mobile Minds Tutoring and Responsive Education Solutions and a 21st Century Community Learning Center Grant Administrator in Del Valle, TX. She is passionate about the role supplemental education plays in building a student’s self-confidence and in creating new opportunities for personal and professional success and she has devoted her professional life to facilitating that. In her free time Kristen enjoys playing guitar, creative writing, hiking with her dog Daisy, and acting.
Latisha has a Bachelors of Science in Business Administration with a focus on Business Information Systems from DeVry University. Before joining Varsity Tutors, Latisha worked with educational institutes in technical and teaching positions. She worked for University of Phoenix Online as an Academic Adviser. She also worked for Berlitz Inc. as a Language Instructor. Although she has a passion for education and technology, she has always been even more passionate about language and culture. She speaks Portuguese and Spanish. She was inducted into the Spanish Honor Society by the age of 15. Due to her background, Latisha understands the challenges that ESL students face in the classroom and in the workplace. She was born in New York and has lived in Arizona, Ecuador, and now Ohio. She enjoys traveling, eating, learning different languages, blogging, video editing, photography, performing arts and most of all, doing volunteer work.
Laura holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Behavioral Science with a secondary degree in Early Childhood Eduction from Metropolitan College of Denver. She started her teaching career working with Kindergartners and then taught second grade for 3 years. After leaving the classroom, Laura because a director for a private tutoring company where she taught reading, math, writing, study skills, advanced reading strategies, and helped students with their homework. Laura's passion is to see students reach their potential and learn to love school. Laura enjoys photograph and spending time with her dogs and her husband. She volunteers and fosters for a local Saint Bernard rescue.
Laura received her BA in English with a minor in Biochemistry from the University of Michigan, where she also worked as a tutor for the Sweetland Center for Writing. As part of the Learning Tools team, she uses her knowledge of the English language and her familiarity with the humanities and the sciences to edit and curate free practice tests and other study tools. Outside of work, Laura enjoys writing and reading science fiction and fantasy, playing tabletop board games, and trying different kinds of tea.
Lauren’s passion for helping others overcome obstacles, achieve their goals, and become successful is what drove her to the education field. Originally from St. Charles, Missouri, Lauren holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Middle School Science and Elementary Education with a concentration in Reading from the University of Evansville. She is certified to teach K-6 and 6-8 Science and holds a teaching credential. Before joining Varsity Tutors she was an Assistant Staff Coordinator and Tutor Coach for a national tutoring company. Over the past four years, Lauren has aided many students in achieving their goals through one-on-one tutoring. She is committed to guiding students through their learning process while allowing them to make mistakes along the way. In her spare time Lauren enjoys running, baking, volunteering at a local animal shelter, rooting for the Cardinals, and spending time with her husband and two large dogs, Bull and Porky.
Lisa has worked in the education field since her graduation from university in 2007 with a Bachelor's degree in Psychology. She is an experienced educator, having worked with students from preschool to college. Before coming to work for Varsity Tutors, Lisa worked as an English teacher overseas, directed summer camp programs, and was a teacher's assistant. In her spare time, she enjoys running, cycling, and horseback riding.

Maggie holds a Master’s of Fine Arts degree in Acting and Arts Education from American Conservatory Theater and a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Theater and Cultural Anthropology from Skidmore College. Prior to her work with Varsity Tutors, Maggie was the Director of Education of a national acting and modeling school. She has tutored, coached, and served as an Adjunct Faculty member and Lecturer at a number of colleges and universities up and down the West Coast. Maggie has also developed and implemented educational programs aimed at helping underserved youth accomplish their academic goals. Through her varied interests and experience, Maggie has developed a true passion for helping students realize their full potential as passionate and cultured intellectuals. Outside of work, she enjoys cooking, woodworking, whitewater rafting, and spending time with her family.
Marissa’s passion for working with children began when she was asked to be a mentor in an inner-city school during her time as a student at the University of California, San Diego. This experience led her to pursue a career in the field of education. Marissa graduated with a BA in Sociology, a Masters of Education, and a California Multiple Subject Teaching Credential. Before joining the Varsity Tutors team, Marissa worked as a visiting teacher, a private tutor, and as the Director of Education for a national tutoring company. Working in these varied positions has provided Marissa with tremendous insight into student learning and, as a result, she has assisted many children in building confidence within themselves and in finding success in education. In her free time, Marissa enjoys settling in with a good book, spending time with her kitty cat, and relaxing with her husband.
Born, raised, and educated in New York State, Mark has been working in the test prep and tutoring industry for four years. His roles before joining Varsity Tutors focused on providing outstanding student experiences, ensuring smooth program delivery, hiring amazing teachers and tutors, and making sure those teachers and tutors had the tools they needed to help their students succeed. Most recently he managed a team of teachers and tutors in Georgia and Florida for a national test prep company. Mark has a B.A in Literature and Creative Writing from Purchase College. In his spare time he enjoys going to the theater, trying new restaurants, and hunting for the perfect cup of coffee.
Martha is the St. Louis Director of Varsity Tutors. Prior to joining Varsity tutors, she was the Director of Educational Services at National Merit Scholarship Corporation, a merit-based, nationwide scholarship competition based in Evanston, Illinois. Through her work with the National Merit Scholarship Program, she gained valuable insight into the educational landscape of the St. Louis area, as well as a broad understanding of curriculum designs and grading practices for a variety of types of schools. She is pleased to work with Varsity Tutors and looks forward to helping students reach their educational goals.
Mary has always had a passion for helping students accomplish their educational goals and enjoys working hand-in-hand with students and their families to make this happen on a daily basis. Mary began her career in college admissions in 2001 and advanced to Director of Admissions in 2003. She has helped thousands of students by guiding them to their perfect program and college or university. Mary holds a Bachelor’s degree in Speech Communications from Albion College in Michigan. She has lived in Ohio, Arizona and Alabama, but now resides in Michigan, where she was born and raised. When she is not cheering on her two children at one of their school activities or sporting events, she enjoys spending time with her husband of 15 years, as well as reading, gardening and spending time outdoors.
Mary Anne has almost ten years of experience in the education field. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from the University of Kentucky and her Masters in Reading Education from Xavier University. She is an experienced teacher and tutor having worked with children from preschool through college. Before coming to work for Varsity Tutors, MaryAnne held the position of Center Director at two Child Care centers as well as Enrollment Advisor for a major university. In her spare time, MaryAnne likes to spend time with her husband, family and friends, and cooking.
Mary Beth considers herself to be a life-long learner and has a passion for education. She received her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from the University of Missouri and holds current teaching credentials in the states of Missouri, Texas, and California. Throughout her professional experience, Mary Beth has worked in a variety of educational settings and has done extensive research on early learning styles. She has also planned and participated in many community fundraising events for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. In her spare time, Mary Beth enjoys exploring new cities, rooting for the St. Louis Cardinals, and spending time with her Shetland Sheepdog, Brady.

She has helped hundreds of students achieve academic success. She is an experienced director and has had the opportunity of working with students ranging from early childhood through the adult level. She believes every student can gain confidence to succeed, change their outlook on education and reach their dreams. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her children, arts and crafts, working out and spending time outdoors.
Melissa is an experienced teacher and tutor. She has had the opportunity to work with students ranging from elementary through high school levels in both the United States and Jamaica. She graduated from the University of Evansville and holds a teaching license in both Ohio and Indiana. With a background in both teaching and tutoring, Melissa believes in the importance of a high quality education for all students. Michael, a native of New Jersey, earned a Bachelors Degree in Liberal Studies and a Masters Degree in Elementary Education Grades K-6 from Quinnipiac University in Connecticut. Before joining the Varsity Tutors team, Michael was a Director for a private tutoring company helping hundreds of teenagers realize their potential and get into the colleges of their choice. After graduating with her Bachelor’s in Education from Bowling Green State University in Bowling Green, Ohio, Molly knew she wanted to utilize her education degree in a manner other than the traditional classroom. With more than a decade of educational management and student development experience for a large educational service provider, Molly’s passion and drive to see students accomplish unparalleled success continues to grow. She has experience in tutoring, management, and creating individualized learning plans that ensure success for students. In her free time, Molly loves every opportunity to spend time with her family, reading, growing as a musician/vocalist, taking on the next challenge as an avid runner, and rooting on her beloved Buckeyes!

Before joining Varsity Tutors, she worked as the Assistant Director of Admission for a nationally recognized private school in Pittsburgh. Molly currently lives in Baltimore, MD, and is in the process of earning her Master of Arts in Teaching from Johns Hopkins University. Pamela graduated from the University of Texas at San Antonio Summa Cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English. Prior to joining Varsity Tutors, she taught English at the high school and collegiate level. She believes that every student should have the opportunity to go as far as he or she wishes. Inside the classroom, she helped dozens accomplish their dreams; outside the classroom, she hopes to reach hundreds. In her free time, Pamela loves reading, cheering on the Dallas Cowboys and San Antonio Spurs, geocaching, camping, and hiking with her family.
Formerly residing in Beijing, Hong Kong, and Singapore, Paul moved to Chicago to pursue his Bachelor of Science degree in Materials Science and Engineering at Northwestern University. He began working with Varsity Tutors as a tutor, specializing in ACT and SAT test preparation, but eventually found himself as the Recruiter for Varsity Tutors' St. Louis team. He now uses his knowledge of what makes an excellent tutor to guide him in his role as Associate Director of Recruitment and Learning Tools. Paul is a trivia buff and competes as the contemporary knowledge expert (and occasional mascot) of a tournament-winning trivia team alongside former Jeopardy contestants.
Rachel is a graduate from the University of Maryland at College Park, and currently resides in the Washington DC Metropolitan area. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Family Science. Rachel has previous experience in the fields of early childhood education, and customer service. Recently, she worked as an executive assistant and as an assistant director of an early childhood education Center. In her free time, Rachel enjoys spending time with her Family and Friends along with traveling. She looks forward to helping students reach their educational goals.
Rebecca graduated from the University of Florida with a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. Shortly after graduation, she began her career in student recruiting and advising for college-bound students and as a result, discovered her passion for helping students achieve their personalvgoals through creative and unconventional means. She pursued her Masters of Education in Instructional Leadership, where she learned to combine her love of teaching and learning with her business background. Prior to joining Varsity Tutors, Rebecca worked as a Director for a Learning Center in the Pittsburgh Area. In her free time, Rebecca enjoys exploring her new hometown of Pittsburgh, getting lost in a good book, doing Zumba, and traveling.
A native of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Sarah holds a Masters of Arts in Higher Education Administration and a Bachelor of Science in Rehabilitation Counseling from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. As a undergraduate academic adviser, Sarah provided educational support to students, assisted students in planning their academic schedules, and identified creative solutions to academic challenges. While Sarah has also enjoyed positions in the long term care industry in Montana and Florida, her true passion is in working with students to reach their educational goals. She has most recently held a management position in the tutoring field. Sarah enjoys reading, live music, and traveling with her family and friends.

Sarah was born and raised in Nashville, TN. As a returning adult college student, she values the importance of education. She earned a Bachelor’s in Business/Marketing and will complete her Master’s in Business Administration in October of 2013. For the last four years, she has worked as an advisor and manager at University of Phoenix guiding students through their academic journey. While she has a background in a variety of fields, she has grown to love education and working with students. She enjoys traveling with friends, going to standup comedy shows, trying new foods, and spending time with her 10-year-old daughter.
Sarah is a proud Rutgers University graduate with a BA in Spanish and an M.Ed. in Bilingual Education. Sarah has been in the field of education for over 12 years. In addition to her time as a classroom teacher, Sarah has also been a private tutor, a school administrator, and was the Director and Head of School for a private academy in South Florida. She has relished every opportunity to drive curriculum and bring new, engaging programs to students. Sarah is currently pursuing her Doctoral Degree in Curriculum and Instruction and is a self-proclaimed “lifetime learner”. Sharon is a lifelong resident of New Jersey. She earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Media Studies and Communications from Widener University. With a growing interest in education, she returned to school at Saint Peter’s College in 2002 to attain her Early Elementary teaching certification. Sharon has over nineteen years of professional experience, most recently as a Senior Graduate Admissions Advisor for a university and Director of a Learning Center. The Director position at Varsity Tutors is a perfect fit for Sharon who has guided hundreds of students over the years in their educational journeys. Sharon practices a healthy lifestyle and thoroughly enjoys sharing quality time with her family and friends.
Summer first began working as a tutor while she was still in high school. She has a strong desire to help others succeed in all areas of life, especially when it comes to academics. Born and raised in Alabama, she relocated to Tampa, Florida where she earned a BA in Liberal Studies and Sociology at Saint Leo University. Her experience and well-rounded degree help her to better understand and serve students of all subjects. With a professional background in admissions, service, and management, she is well equipped to help each student find a program that meets his or her needs. After growing up in a small town, Taylor moved herself to Orange County and graduated from California State University, Fullerton with a B.A in English. While in college, she worked as a nanny and later a tutor in Greek Mythology and English language, literature, and composition. There is nothing more rewarding for Taylor than fostering the depth and sophistication of thought that allows children to find a genuine pleasure in learning. At Varsity Tutors she has found those who share her passion. In her spare time, Taylor enjoys creative writing, musical composition, and any philanthropic venture that benefits women, children, or animals.
Teresa has a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from Iowa State University. Over the past 15 years, Teresa has worked with children in the public schools, private schools and private tutoring. Six of those years she was the director of a learning center that focused solely on private tutoring. Now she looks forward to continuing to help students reach their educational goals with Varsity Tutors. In her free time, Teresa sings with a local college choir and spends time with her friends and family.
Tiffany earned a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies from Sacramento State University and a Master of Arts in Education from University of Phoenix. Prior to joining the Varsity Tutors team, she spent the last ten years in higher education administration and operations. Tiffany is passionate about mentoring and helping students reach their full potential. Tiffany and her husband make their home in Austin, Texas, where they are raising three fervent San Francisco Bay area sports fans and one large dog, surrounded by an ever-growing collection of books.
A graduate of Eastern Illinois University with a Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Biology, Tracy has worked in sales, human resources, and recruiting over the past 19 years. For the past four years she has worked in sales involving education and working directly with students. She has experience in helping teachers and students reach their goals. What Tracy is looking forward most to at Varsity Tutors is helping students achieve academic success! In her spare time Tracy enjoys spending time with family and friends, cheering on her daughter in soccer, rooting for her St. Louis Blues in hockey, and walking her dog!
Originally from the Atlanta area, Tracy holds a Masters Degree from Columbia University and a Bachelors Degree in Social Science Education from the University of Georgia. As an undergraduate she studied in Segovia, Spain and went on to earn a Minor in Spanish. From 2003-2008 Tracy taught social studies/ history at the middle school level in the New York City Public School System; there she mentored countless students, provided professional development for new teachers and served as head coach of the championship track team she helped create. Additionally, she has tutored numerous students in both small groups and one on one settings and has worked as a Tutoring Program Administrator. In her spare time Tracy enjoys running, traveling, and spending time with friends and family.
