Tutoring review by Jonathan in Pinecrest, FL
I began this session by asking the student about the test he had taken earlier today. Overall, he felt like he did well on the test, and we discussed problems he'd had issues with. After this discussion, we moved forward with our discussion of statistics in chapter 12. I had let him know previously that statistics is widely used in various fields, and that it was less math-intensive than previous chapters, instead requiring his ability to critically analyze different scenarios. The first section on sampling methods and sources of bias was review since his teacher had already covered it, but I was able to move forward and teach him about mean absolute deviation, standard deviation, and histograms.

Tutoring review by Kristof-Pierre in Pinecrest, FL
The student's test is on Tuesday. She was told by a classmate to focus on the PowerPoint, so we spent the session going through all the slides. We practiced problems and went through examples the teacher had also done. I pointed out certain things to watch out for, that her teacher may try to trick her with, as well as ways to approach certain problems. I left her with some worked examples and let her know that she can send me questions if she has any trouble.

Tutoring review by Margaret in Pinecrest, FL
The student and I started by reviewing geometry concepts today. We reviewed perimeter, area, and the Pythagorean theorem. She is still having a tough time with exponents, so I will come up with a practice test for her to complete. We also learned the full strategy for conquering the reading section. We walked through a few practice passages together and then I let her do a few on her own. Finally, we did some analogy practice (what to do when you do not know one of the words).
