Tutoring review by Landon in Maitland, FL
We went over domain and range for a bit to start. We mostly worked on the student's final review. It's long so it will take a couple of sessions to finish but the goal is for him to do well on the final!

Last session, the student and I went over her homework, which reviewed the whole of the geometry concepts her class has covered thus far. She did an excellent job on the homework, only running into a couple of issues. She seems prepared for her upcoming test. We will continue to work on the fundamentals of algebra that she may have missed earlier in the year, including solving for x.

Tutoring review by Ashley in Maitland, FL
I had the student primarily focus on perimeter in our session today. I brought in multiple materials for us to use - a whiteboard, everyday objects, cheeze it crackers, pipe cleaners. In order to have her be more fully engaged I had her measure everyday objects - such as my binder, her journal, her dining table, etc. It is a hard concept for students to grasp, but I think she was beginning to understand what it means "to find the perimeter" of something. I had her play the role of the teacher and she taught me what she had reviewed during our hour session. By flipping the roles, she could stretch her brain in order to not just know how something works, but be able to explain it to someone else. I think that being able to teach someone a concept shows true mastery of the content. I challenged her at the end of our session to find the perimeter of the balloon that was resting on the table.

We went over the student's review packet for both chemistry and math. Initially, his math was a bit shaky with old concepts (series, sequences, compound interest) that I gave him as homework, but he did remember eventually. We ironed out some thermochemistry concepts with examples from real life, which he seemed to understand quite readily.

Tutoring review by Joseph in Maitland, FL
We went over some quizzes that the student had taken in her precalculus class to start to discern what to focus on for improvement. We did problems on polynomial fractions and other polynomial concepts, as well as a few story problems. She seems to have a decent understanding of the concepts. A lot of the mistakes are simple errors with signs or arithmetic. The other difficulty is 'seeing' what to do next. But, she seemed to understand for herself and make progress quite well! We will continue to go over different types of problems and work on further discover what the fundamental challenges are and how we can overcome them.

Tutoring review by Audrey in Maitland, FL
We covered finding the interior and exterior angles of polygons. The student did well (especially on the harder problems). Remember: 1) To find the sum of the interior angles, take the number of sides (n) minus 2 (the number of triangles that can be created in the polygon) times 180 (the sum of the interior angles of a polygon). 2) To find one angle of a regular polygon, take the sum of the interior angles and divide it by the number of angles in the polygon. 3) Review the names of shapes!! A hexagon has 6 sides (and 6 angles).
