Tutoring review by Vanessa in Golden Valley, MN
Today we covered graphing inequalities from word problems. The student had to read a word problem, assign variables, and then write and graph an inequality to represent the situation. She had a positive attitude towards the material. We talked again about choosing points inside her shaded region of the graph to check her solution, and we were also able to go over good scales to use for graphs based on what numbers we were working with. This was a good session -- we were able to complete her classwork, and she was able to successfully work through the problems.

We covered his SAT math test results, and corrected the wrong ones. The student's attitude is to get as high as possible in the SAT score, and he is intends to do what it takes, even if he has to take multiple tests. We proceeded to the last chapters in the pre-calculus book, and covered vectors, creating vectors pointing from point to point, scalar products between vectors, angles between vectors, lengths of vectors, unit vectors, as well as linear operations on vectors, addition and scalar multiplication. Student was left with the homework to finish before the test, but all the basics were covered. Student should have no trouble completing the homework.

Tutoring review by Blake in Golden Valley, MN
Yesterday evening we reviewed many of the theorems concerning integer addition and multiplication. These included the commutative, associative and distributive properties. We also used the order of operations to simplify equations with integer operations. The distributive property of multiplication came up most frequently and the student did quite well with this. We managed to incorporate learning strategies that she has identified as being helpful. The grade she received on her most recent quiz is certainly a win. She seems to have a strong grasp of the theorems and I am confident she will do well on he assignments this week.

The student was absent from school and needed to cover the match classes he had missed. We went over finding the zeros of a function. We also went over the long division of polynomials.

During our session, I helped the student prepare/study for an upcoming test in class. We utilized multiple worksheet review assignments that had been given to her by her teacher to help her prepare. As this exam is a cumulative exam covering material from chapters 1-6 (subjects that the student and I have been studying together throughout the school year), multiple topics were covered. She did well in today's session. We will meet again next week to help her prepare for next week's final covering the remaining chapters subsequent to chapter 6.

Tutoring review by Caroline in Golden Valley, MN
Today the student and I went over the work she had done on her If and Sea Cadets essay. We got her Sea Cadets essay to a very solid place. I would call it almost finished. She has some editing work to do on the If essay for the next time we meet. Overall, I think both essays are very put together, well formed essays. We worked a little bit on the possibility of a new essay, and also touched a bit on her college-specific essays. When she has a clear idea of all the universities she is applying to, we will get to work on the supplements.
