Hello, my name is Destiny and I graduated from Howard University. I majored in Psychology with a minor in Biology and Administration of Justice. One of the most important lessons I've learned from school is the value of asking for help. This can be the difference between simply memorizing some facts and truly understanding the material given to you. In many cases, learning in a traditional school setting is not effective and students should feel free to reach out for extra guidance. I strive to be that source of guidance for all students who need it. I believe that everyone learns in their own way and that the key to helping someone else lies in finding their unique style of learning. I take great pleasure in finding those styles and using them to enrich students minds. My main areas of expertise are Psychology and English. Ive been reading at a college level since middle school and scored 5s on both AP English tests. I also scored a 5 on the AP Psychology exam in addition to receiving As in all my psychology classes. I have extensive experience with essay writing, essay editing, and researching. Other subjects I can assist with include Algebra I and II, Geometry, and SAT/ACT prep. Outside of class, I like to stay busy with school activities and hobbies. I spend most of my time playing the trumpet in my schools marching band or studying. But when I have free time, I typically catch up with my shows or read.

I'm passionate about helping others reach their potential. I began playing chess at the age of 7 over the years and have now played for over 20 years. I've had the opportunity to play in countless tournaments. Now I spend my time helping people old and young learn how to play the game. I love watching others learn and grow into their potential!

I completed my M.S. in Mechanical Engineering at MIT in 2024. As a graduate student, I was a Teaching Assistant for Thermal Fluids Engineering courses (combined Heat Transfer, Thermodynamics, and Fluid Mechanics course) for college upperclassmen in mechanical engineering and advanced manufacturing courses for undergraduate and graduate students across disciplines at MIT. I completed my B.S. in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Texas at Austin, during which I worked part-time tutoring high school students in physics, math and mechanical engineering and helped them with test preparation skills for the ACT and SAT. The primary subjects I teach are Thermodynamics, Heat Transfer, Fluid Mechanics, Physics: Mechanics, and various math subjects including Pre-Calculus, Trigonometry, Geometry and Algebra. I can also assist in test preparation for the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam and college entrance exams. My teaching philosophy centers on fostering a supportive learning environment where students feel encouraged to explore complex concepts. My sessions focus on (1) understanding a student's current understanding of a concept, (2) identifying gaps, and (3) bridging those gaps with explanations, examples, and analogies.
