Few AP Chemistry tutors have actually written and graded college chemistry exams for years. Jeremy, a Yale-trained Ph.D. who has taught General Chemistry at the college level many times, knows precisely how equilibrium, thermodynamics, and kinetics questions are designed to test conceptual understanding versus rote calculation. He breaks down free-response strategies and teaches students to connect the big ideas the exam rewards.

In 2022, I completed my Ph.D. in Chemistry at Vanderbilt University. My goal is to use my expertise in chemistry, algebra, and calculus to help students not only learn but also enjoy these subjects. My favorite subject to teach is general chemistry as it highlights the importance of interdisciplinary study combining, physics, math, and even biology. While my degree expertise lies in chemistry, I am equally adapt in teaching all levels of mathematics. I take pride in reinforcing mathematics concepts with tangible applications in other fields to highlight its importance and making learning interesting.
Two biomedical engineering degrees mean Allyson has spent years applying chemistry at the molecular level — designing biomaterials, analyzing reaction kinetics in biological systems, and solving the kind of thermodynamics problems that AP Chemistry's free-response section loves to test. She unpacks topics like electrochemistry and equilibrium by connecting them to real engineering applications, which makes the "why" behind each concept stick. Rated 4.9 by students.
Kathleen earned her Ph.D. in Molecular Pathology & Immunology at Vanderbilt, but her undergraduate chemistry and biology degrees from the University of Arkansas are what make her especially effective for AP Chemistry — she built her understanding of thermodynamics, kinetics, and bonding from the ground up before applying them in graduate research. She teaches the course's trickiest conceptual leaps, like connecting particulate diagrams to macroscopic behavior, with the clarity of someone who's had to explain complex science to audiences ranging from middle schoolers to Ph.D. committees.
Fay is currently studying biochemistry, which means she's neck-deep in the college-level chemistry that AP students are working toward — particularly the organic and inorganic reaction principles that show up across the curriculum's toughest units. Where she really shines is connecting lab-scale intuition to exam-style problems, especially when it comes to electrochemistry and thermodynamic predictions that require more than just plugging into formulas. Rated 4.9 by students.
I'm a high school chemistry and biology teacher with a love of languages. I consider myself a lifelong learner and am excited to share and discover new subjects and ideas. I'd love to help you in your learning journey as well! I started tutoring as a college freshman after taking an advanced chemistry course and realizing how much I enjoyed working with my classmates to help them study and solve difficult problems. My college hired me to tutor French, biology, and chemistry students throughout the next three and a half years. I also started meeting with several gifted high school students who needed guidance in preparing the best college applications possible. Having successfully passed seven AP tests as a student, I was able to help them prepare for the most challenging content in the classes and on the AP tests. I was also able to share ACT test strategies and content knowledge from my own experience that helped me achieve a 35 cumulative score and qualify as a national merit scholar on the PSAT. During college, I also had the opportunity to volunteer my time with high school students who were internationally adopted or in foster care while awaiting immigration proceedings. Working with students who were learning math, science, and other subjects in their second language became a passion that drove me to switch career paths and become a teacher in a public school. I speak conversational French and Spanish which has given me such an appreciation for the patience and grace of native speakers willing to help me. This has framed my entire approach to education as science often feels like a foreign language to students who are not yet fluent. With patience, exposure, and practice, I believe every student can be successful at even the most challenging science concepts. Now I teach high school chemistry and AP chemistry, but I'm also certified in and have taught high school biology and physical science. My favorite part of teaching chemistry is the moment of satisfaction students experience when they have struggled and overcome a difficult task. My students may have different journeys to success, but I love celebrating every victory.
Thermodynamics, electrochemistry, and equilibrium calculations in AP Chemistry require more than formula memorization — they demand fluency with why reactions behave the way they do. Abrahim's chemistry background spans general through physical and organic at UCLA, and his direct teaching style zeroes in on the conceptual reasoning that earns 4s and 5s on exam day.
Samantha's psychology studies at Princeton might seem unrelated to AP Chemistry, but her neuropsychology focus requires understanding the chemical processes underlying brain function — neurotransmitter synthesis, ion channel dynamics, and the thermodynamics of cellular signaling all draw on the same principles tested in AP Chem. She applies that molecular-level thinking to topics like atomic structure and reaction energetics, teaching students to reason through problems rather than memorize isolated facts. Rated 4.9 by students.
Thermodynamics, equilibrium, and electrochemistry each require a different style of problem-solving, and AP Chemistry crams all of them into one exam. Andrew's biochemistry degree and lab research give him deep fluency with these concepts at the molecular level, so he can unpack why Le Chatelier's principle works or how entropy drives spontaneity — not just which formula to plug numbers into.
Thermodynamics, equilibrium, and electrochemistry tend to be the units where AP Chemistry students hit a wall — the math gets heavier and the conceptual leaps get bigger. Amanda tackles these topics by connecting abstract chemical principles to biological systems she knows deeply from her medical training, which makes ideas like Gibbs free energy or Le Chatelier's principle feel less arbitrary. Rated 4.7 by students.
Teaching 12th grade Chemistry at a high-performing Philadelphia magnet school means Kathleen sees exactly which AP Chemistry concepts — from equilibrium reasoning to periodic trends — trip students up on exams, and she's built classroom-tested strategies for each one. Her Penn M.S.Ed in Secondary Science Education and her chemistry degree give her both the content depth and the pedagogical training to explain why a reaction proceeds the way it does, not just how to get the right answer. Rated 5.0 by students.
Thermodynamics, equilibrium, and reaction kinetics form the backbone of AP Chemistry — and they're also foundational to Owen's neuroscience studies at Brown, where understanding chemical behavior at the molecular level is non-negotiable. He unpacks abstract concepts like Gibbs free energy and intermolecular forces by tying them to tangible examples, making the logic behind each problem visible before students ever touch a calculator.
Pratik's strongest subject is chemistry, and it shows — he tutors it at both the high school and college level from his home base as a premed biology major at Cornell. He digs into the conceptual logic behind equilibrium, thermodynamics, and electrochemistry so that students can reason through unfamiliar free-response prompts instead of relying on memorized shortcuts.
Hello! My name is Danica and I am an incoming sophomore at the University of Pennsylvania majoring in Neuroscience and Psychology. As the founder of my high school's Chemistry Club, I worked to make challenging scientific concepts approachable and engaging for students of all grade levels. I developed educational materials, organized meetings, and created an environment where students felt comfortable asking questions and exploring their curiosity. I tailor my tutoring approach to each student's learning style, whether that involves working through practice problems, reviewing test corrections, creating study resources, or breaking down complex topics into manageable steps. I believe every student is capable of growth when provided with patience, guidance, and the right support. As a tutor, my goal is not only to help students improve their grades but also to foster confidence, independence, and a genuine appreciation for learning.
Neuroscience at Yale meant David didn't just take chemistry — he needed it to make sense of membrane potentials, neurotransmitter synthesis, and receptor pharmacology, all of which rest on principles like electrochemistry and molecular interactions that show up directly on the AP Chemistry exam. That gives him a knack for explaining why a reaction proceeds spontaneously or how intermolecular forces dictate physical properties, because he learned those concepts as tools for solving real problems, not as isolated textbook chapters. Rated 5.0 by students.
Blake's neuroscience studies at Vanderbilt required college-level chemistry where concepts like molecular bonding, reaction energetics, and acid-base chemistry weren't electives — they were foundations for understanding how the brain works at a chemical level. That background means he can teach AP Chemistry's trickiest quantitative problems, from stoichiometry to gas laws, while explaining the molecular logic behind each step. His 34 ACT and 5.0 rating speak to the rigor and clarity he brings to exam preparation.
I am most passionate about biology and chemistry. I am a firm proponent of education, believing it to be absolutely necessary for an improved quality of life, and I try to impart this appreciation to all of my students.
AP Chemistry's leap from stoichiometry to thermodynamics and equilibrium trips up students who were comfortable in general chem. Matthew, pursuing his biochemistry degree at Yale, unpacks these concepts by showing how energy, entropy, and reaction kinetics actually govern the molecular behavior students already learned about. His 5.0 rating speaks to how well that approach lands.
