About Me
Hello! I specialize in beginner and early-intermediate violin and cello instruction, while also providing support in psychology, study skills, and test preparation. Students learn proper posture, bow hold, finger placement, tone production, rhythm, and music reading while progressing through method materials such as Essential Elements for Strings and Suzuki. I work with children, teens, and adult beginners, including students preparing for school orchestra or starting music for the first time. Lessons include technique development, guided practice, and strategies to help students practice successfully at home. In addition to strings instruction, I teach psychology and academic skills. I hold a Master's degree in Psychology from Capella University and enjoy helping students understand complex concepts through clear, step-by-step explanations. I support learners in areas such as: General Psychology Study skills and organization Executive functioning College readiness Writing support Test preparation strategies My background in psychology allows me to tailor instruction for students with ADHD, different learning styles, and executive functioning challenges. I focus on building confidence, improving focus, and developing practical strategies students can apply across subjects. I have extensive experience teaching online and designing structured lessons that work well in both one-on-one and small group settings. My teaching style combines clear instruction, guided practice, and engaging activities to keep students motivated. Whether we are learning a new bowing technique, preparing for a psychology exam, or building study strategies for school success, my goal is always the same: to make learning approachable, structured, and empowering. I welcome students of all experience levels, including adult beginners, and enjoy helping learners grow both musically and academically.
Hobbies & Interests
Outside of tutoring, I enjoy volunteering in my local community, particularly in programs that support youth and education. I play the cello and value the patience, discipline, and creativity that music develops—qualities I strive to bring into every lesson. I also enjoy cooking and experimenting with new recipes as a creative way to learn practical skills and share experiences with family and friends. In addition, I am a lifelong learner who enjoys exploring new courses and books in psychology, education, music, and personal development in order to continually grow as an educator.
