About Me

Hello! I'm Jonathan Cooke, a passionate sixth-grade math teacher. With nine years of experience, I thrive on making math both fun and accessible for my students. I earned my Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Appalachian State University, where I discovered how rewarding it is to help children grasp math concepts. Throughout my teaching journey, I have received several accolades, including the Catawba County Beginning Teacher of the Year and the Catawba County Elementary School Teacher of the Year. Currently, I am pursuing National Board Certification in Middle Childhood through Early Adolescent Mathematics, demonstrating my commitment to providing exceptional education. Before stepping into the classroom, I spent nearly two decades at Limited Brands, where I honed valuable problem-solving and interpersonal skills. This experience allows me to incorporate real-life examples into my lessons, showing students how math is relevant in our daily lives. I believe that hard work and dedication are essential, and I strive to instill these values in my students. Outside the classroom, I run a creative yard greeting business, which fuels my passion for creativity. In my free time, I enjoy outdoor activities, playing sports, and creating special memories with my family and friends. I am dedicated to building strong relationships with my students and their families. My ultimate goal is to ensure that every child not only succeeds academically but also develops as an individual. I look forward to inspiring a love for mathematics and helping each child reach their full potential!
