About Me

As a Certified Permanent Substitute teacher for more than 7 years, I've found that my passion for and commitment to teaching, have only grown with every year. Even with the complexities of the current educational landscape, the feeling of getting through to that student who just wasn't "getting the hang of it," or helping advanced students achieve their goals, never gets old. I have dedicated my career to helping students of all levels master the skills and concepts they need to go on to college and everyday life beyond high school. I would love to continue that path with your school or child. Over my seven years of teaching, I've made it a point to stay up-to-date on the most current teaching methods, and use custom lesson planning to develop relevant curriculum for students in order to maximize their engagement on complex concepts. I've worked in a wide variety of subjects in the educational system, and I would bring that enthusiasm and expertise to your tutoring experience. I would love to continue my career as a tutor for you, with Varsity Tutors. Many of my jobs have required working with Special Needs children. I have taught Severely Autistic, Course Recovery/Life Skills, Behavior Disorder, Mentally Impaired, Learning Disabled, Hearing/Visually Impaired, and Physically Challenged students. As for the regular classrooms, I have been a teacher for 7th Grade Science, 4th Grade, 3rd Grade, Sixth Grade Math, and Pre-K. I have also worked as a daycare provider, assisting with children from the ages of birth to 12 years of age. I received my Bachelor's Degree, in Elementary Education, from Marshall University. Also, I have a Master's Degree, as a Reading Specialist, from West Virginia University. I taught in W.V. for the majority of my teaching experience, but now I live in North Carolina. Reading and writing are my favorite subjects to teach, but I am experienced with math and history as well. I'm experienced with any subject at the elementary level. As for middle school, I am experienced in English, and History. Also for math, I have the most experience in sixth grade.
