About Me

I received my B.S. in Natural Sciences, B.A. in French, and M.S. in Molecular Biology from the University of Akron. My doctoral degree (Ph.D.) in Ethnobotany is from Miami University, Oxford, Ohio. I also have an A.S. in Veterinary Technology from Kent State University. I have spent my career teaching primarily college freshman. I have worked at 4-year public universities, 4-year private colleges and 2-year community colleges. I enjoy teaching college freshman because I believe that the foundation that is laid in those first couple of semesters is crucial to the long-term success of students. I tutor in many different areas of biology, but I have a special interest in natural history; in other words, learning about the plants, animals, and geology of a given region that make it special. I enjoy it so much in fact that it's how I spend much of my spare time doing nature photography and hiking. I also take pleasure in flower arranging and hook latch.
