About Me

I graduated from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelors in Fine Arts (Magna Cum Laude). My concentration was in painting. Additionally from Edinboro University, I have acquired 27 credits of graduate level work in Clinical Psychology and Art Therapy. Teaching has been my passion and skillset for the past 25 years as I have substituted in many schools K-12, homeschooled my own children for a few years, and privately tutored children and adults in art and music. Since 2018, I have worked as a teaching assistant at the Montessori charter school in our area (K-6). The Montessori child centered and subject connectioning education philosophy informs my approach to teaching. I believe that by connecting interests and tailoring lessons to a student's strengths, we can open up a natural curiosity and internal motivations while also discovering that learning is fun. As a teaching assistant, I move around many classrooms in addition to my own assigned room. I am always welcomed by the students with excitement because they know that I like and respect them and we will enjoy our time together. My favorite subjects to teach are math and art (often I combine the two in my lessons). Music and History are also favorites. However, I love teaching and learning any subject. In my free time I play advanced piano and sometimes create videos for youtube. I paint oils for galleries or commissions. I love to get out in nature and travel.
