About Me

I teach "from the trenches". With over fifty years of professional background in the visual and performing arts, I bring to my students a wealth of practical experience - as well as two decades of teaching at all levels in traditional and online college classes and informal community venues. I graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Theatre and Video production from Indiana University in 1968 and embarked on a broad-ranging career - working in a variety of media, including painting, sculpture, printmaking, photography, scenic design, and theatrical production - and began teaching undergraduate college-level classes in 2002. I returned to earn a Master's degree in Art in 2011 from Northwestern State University of Louisiana and recently received online teaching certificates from AdjunctWorld and Matrix Education to further my professional development. A fervent lifelong learner, as a teacher I am still a student. An insatiable curiosity drives me and a fascination with everything feeds my love of learning. Following my teaching philosophy, I work hard to make learning easy.
