About Me

Hello, my name is Al! I received my B.S. in Statistics from UGA in 2020, and my M.A. in Educational Psychology in 2025. I have been professionally tutoring high school and college students in statistics, psychometrics, and statistical programming for about six years. Rather than a test-prep type of tutoring style that is predominantly focused on passing assessments, I like to make sure my students understand the "why" of what is going on in addition to the "how" aspect of solving problems. I believe that this is necessary to effective learning and critical thinking. My favorite moment when I am tutoring is seeing the metaphorical lightbulb turn on above my students' heads when I can explain a concept to them that they did not previously understand. I love seeing students make these kinds of connections with the curriculum and truly grasp complex ideas. I have always felt a strong urge to share my excitement surrounding learning and statistics to help students cement challenging concepts in their minds, so that they can use that knowledge to the best of their ability.
