I am really excited about working with students in the Philadelphia area! I grew up in Northern Virginia and graduated high school with an IB diploma. For college, I moved to Houston to attend Rice University, where I majored in Psychology. I then earned a masters degree in Religion at Yale and I am now working towards a degree in Bioethics at UPenn. I also completed the premedical requirements during this time.

I am an undergraduate student at the University of Chicago, working towards a pre-med double major in Psychology and Biology (with a specialization in Neuroscience). Beginning in my early teens, I began working and volunteering as a tutor in a variety of environments: I began as a volunteer at a summer program for underprivileged children at the Learning and Tutoring Center of East Austin, and since I have worked as a private elementary school tutor, a private SAT-prep tutor, and a preschool tutor for the Neighborhood Schools Program in South Side Chicago. I have taken, and succeeded in, a broad range of Advanced Placement (AP) and International Baccalaureate (IB) classes, and am familiar with the latest formats, question varieties, and scoring guidelines of these standardized tests, along with the SAT. My teaching philosophy is to go beyond "teaching to the test". Although test-taking skills are crucial for any assessment, I believe the most valuable thing a tutor can do is to enhance and help develop conceptual understanding in our clients. I believe that once a student understands something at the conceptual level, he or she will be much better prepared for the topic, not only in the specific test we are preparing for, but anywhere else it may come up. Memorizing words or equations might help somebody in the short term, but understanding why that word means what it means, or what an equation is actually depicting is worth the extra effort. Besides test-prep I think I can be a great help in writing and editing, as I have experience in everything from short, timed essays such as the SAT essay, to college essays, to research papers such as the IB Extended Essay. I am fully fluent in Spanish for anyone who wishes to communicate in or practice the language.

I am a graduate of Rice University (B.A. in Biochemistry and Cell Biology, History) and Emory University (MPH). Through my undergraduate and graduate studies, I have tutored students in various subjects in one-on-one and group tutoring sessions. I am fluent in Spanish and English and enjoy teaching and tutoring students in Spanish, History, English, Algebra I and II, Calculus, Biology and Chemistry. I have personal experience and tutor for the following standardized exams: AP, IB, SAT, ACT and GRE.

I am a student at Arizona State University and Barrett the Honors College. I am pursuing a degree in chemical engineering and two minors in Spanish and mathematics. I plan on attending medical school upon graduation. I have been a tutor for nearly four years in multiple areas. Primarily, I have tutored mathematics for middle school and high school students. I also have experience in test preparation for the SAT, ACT, IB, AP and Arizona Instrument to Measure Standards (AIMS). Additionally, I have tutored in multiple sciences, such as physics and biology. I very devoted to education and to intend to see to it that every student has the quality of education that I have been privileged to receive. Outside of school, I spend my free time shopping, trying new restaurants, doing yoga, and spending time with friends.

I am a TEFL certified English language teacher, with multiple years of experience teaching English overseas, having lived in both Thailand and Laos, and worked with students of all ages and skill levels. My lessons have ranged from language activation and phonics in kindergarten, to grammar instruction with teens, to conversational business English with adults.

I am a recent graduate of the University of Arizona, with a BS in Biology and minors in Mathematics and Biochemistry. I am currently working on computer coding and enjoy tutoring students, specializing in test preparation for the ACT, SAT, and GRE.

I am now a Florida-barred attorney with a passion for teaching. I had some amazing teachers when I went through school and was lucky to have them make learning an exciting experience for me. My goal is to make learning fun and to empower my students so that they are prepared and confident to tackle problems in subjects in which they once struggled. Receiving my education has been the primary pursuit of my life and the accomplishment of which I am most proud, and I strive to impart the appreciation of learning to my students. I tutor in a variety of subjects, from World Religions to Psychology to English. I love tutoring in any subject but especially in English, Literature, and Writing, and can help students who are struggling in these areas in school or on standardized tests such as IB exams, AP exams, and the PSAT, SAT, and LSAT. In my spare time I enjoy reading novels and nonfiction dealing with science, philosophy, and politics; cooking; painting; and watching college football.

I am very passionate about my undergraduate major, but I explored all different subjects and courses, as well. I was very active on my school's crisis hotline, and was an anonymous peer listener for this organization for most of my college experience. In addition, I was an intern at The Door, a non-profit downtown, where I conducted intake interviews with adolescents and connected them to the services they were interested in. In college, I was also involved in a research study on Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, in the growth of a start-up, and in a club that taught conflict resolution to children around New York. I am very excited to start a graduate program for social work at NYU starting in the fall. I love working with children and adolescents of all ages, and hope to use my masters of social work to better their lives in some way. I have experience as a senior camp counselor for various camps, an assistant teacher, a babysitter, a substitute teacher, a dance teacher, and more. In my free time, I love practicing yoga, running, crafting, baking, and spending time with my family and friends.

I am an empathetic tutor, as I strongly believe that subject matter expertise must be combined with a true understanding of a student’s learning style, strengths, weaknesses, and confidence level in order to create an effective learning environment.

I'm currently applying for medical schools and hope to matriculate in the fall of 2017.
