Riverdale Public Health Tutoring FAQ
As the global population expands, so too does the field of public health. Though many students do not encounter this vast field until they begin to take undergraduate or graduate classes, the permeating nature of public health means that we are constantly interacting with the field's subject matter whether we realize it or not. From the effects of calcium on our diets, to the mechanisms for the spread of influenza, the field of public health has an incredibly diverse and global impact.
Research and studies in public health are often used to justify dispensing funds, grants, and resources for disease control and cures. Epidemiology and biostatistics play key roles in monitoring the effects of large-scale diseases, and social aspects of public health studies can help evaluate the prevalence of psychosocial disorders. For those interested in studying this impactful field, public health tutoring can help you find success in your endeavor. Because finding a dedicated tutor in your specialized field can be challenging, Varsity Tutors can help you connect with private public health tutors across the United States.
When you work with a private public health tutor, you have the benefit of studying a customizable lesson plan that can be designed around your aspirations, goals, and curriculum. Our directors can help you select a tutor based on your specific educational needs, learning style, and even personality, ensuring the best match possible. Each lesson can focus exclusively on the topics most pertinent to your studies, allowing you to direct the trajectory of your public health education.
A key advantage of studying with a private tutor is that you can work at whatever pace suits you best. Unlike learning in a formal classroom setting, your tutor has the time and resources needed to help you develop a greater understanding of challenging material. This means if you are having trouble in one component of your studies, your tutor can spend extra time helping you grasp these problematic concepts. Furthermore, working with a private public health tutor is effective and efficient. In the classroom setting, you must learn at the pace of the class, which can become boring if you are spending excessive time on material that you already understand. However, with a private tutor, you are able to skip areas that you have an understanding of, and move directly into the challenging material. Since your tutor's goal is to ensure that you have a greater understanding of the material, rather than follow a strict lesson plan, there is no pressure for you to rush or slow down to match the pace of a class.
Working with a tutor can even give you the opportunity to expand on course material, helping you develop research ideas or expand on particular concepts that were only mentioned in passing during a lecture. By contacting Varsity Tutors, you will be given assistance in finding a tutor that is committed to helping you reach your academic goals. By receiving proper tutoring in public health, your studies can become an essential tool in the further development of your academic future.
A personal tutor can help you learn the ins and outs of this interesting and important field. Furthermore, tutors are able to work around your schedule, making it easy to incorporate lessons into your weekly routine. If you are busy one week and cannot make it to a session, you can schedule an online meeting with your tutor. If you are ready to get started, or would simply like more information about how public health tutoring can augment your current program, contact your local Varsity Tutors directors today and tell them that you want help finding a tutor.

Recent Riverdale Public Health Tutoring Session Notes
The student and I worked primarily on math tonight, as she did not have her writing assignment back yet for us to work on. I think she has a strong grasp of geometry, but when a new concept/theorem is introduced, she does have a few questions on when to use it. But it doesn't take her long to recognize when it's appropriate to use.
The student and I spent our session today working through the first half of the practice exam questions provided by her teacher. The student's professor was very generous with the number of questions he provided and I was pretty happy with how fast we were able to solve them. The student and I will meet again to finish up the practice exam. The student is definitely understanding the material and her speed and accuracy are improving.
Finished going over the science section and started on the math. She is mostly rusty on her basic algebra and geometry, but she's much more comfortable in this section. She still needs work on timing; she analyzes the problem thoroughly instead of immediately jumping into trying to solve it, so I showed her some tricks and pointed out the kind of problems that would most definitely show up, so that she could memorize those methods.
The student and I reviewed solving similar triangles using ratios, solving right triangles using trigonometric functions, using law of sines and cosines, and evaluating vectors. I went over the lessons with her page by page and she explained some of the examples in the book using the knowledge she had just learned. It was a lot of material to cover, but she seemed to grasp everything and was able to explain the examples with little help.
Today we finished reviewing uppercase and lowercase letters for T - Z. We also reviewed the new French vocab words - paint, kite, guitar, and the parts of the body. The student did great retaining the 3 new words. We also went back and reviewed the weather.
The student and I went over the math problems she had done for homework. She had trouble with 2 difficult geometry ones. We then discussed how to write a high-scoring essay and practiced outlining an essay with one prompt. We spent the next hour reviewing geometry and doing a few practice problems on each concept. I assigned her several math problems and a grammar review as homework.
