I am a graduate of Washington University in St Louis, where I received my Bachelor of Arts in History with minors in Humanities and Anthropology. Since graduation, I have worked as a tutor, teacher, and director of tutors at a charter public middle school in Boston. During this time I also received my Masters in Mild to Moderate Disabilities from Simmons College. I have worked extensively with students with a range of abilities, including students with specific learning disabilities, emotional impairments, dyslexia, and ADHD. My teaching experience has given me a deep understanding of the knowledge and habits essential to academic success and has given me the opportunity to hone a variety of strategies that ensure students at each level can achieve their academic goals. While I tutor a broad range of subjects, my favorite ones are Reading, Elementary/Middle School Math, History, and Test Prep. In my experience, tutoring is the most rewarding when a student has that "aha!" moment and achieves a new level of understanding and confidence in his/her abilities. I am a firm believer in the transformative power of education, and I see my role to be that of a facilitator and coach who is there to help the student reach his/her goals through individualized support and rigorous practice. In my free time, I enjoy reading, running, practicing my Spanish, and discovering new music. I am also an avid traveler and just got back from a 3 month trip to South America. I am a recent graduate of Columbia University's American Studies MA program. I received my undergraduate degree at NYU in Journalism and Africana Studies. I have over 2 years experience helping students in NYC. I love reading, writing, and social and cultural analysis.

I am finishing up my first year at Princeton University, still undecided but leaning towards studying Sociology. I have experience working with pre-K students through adults in a variety of topics ranging from environmental education to conversational English practice. I spent a year in Indonesia working at a disability rights NGO and helping my adult coworkers as well as elementary school- and college-aged students develop English language skills. I am very passionate about educational equity, and want to assist all students in accessing strong educational resources. I am able to tutor a wide range of topics, from standardized test prep to English to elementary/middle school Math and more. I also play violin and can help students with music theory, composition and general violin skills as well.

I am very good at determining a student's individual needs and molding sessions based on a students strengths and needs. I am a certified special educator. I have multiple years of classroom teaching experience, primarily grades K-5. I am comfortable tutoring multiple subjects and grade levels including elementary school, middle school, college essays, english, special education, and gifted students. I have experience creating and implementing lessons based on a learners individual learning styles (visual, auditory, or hands on).

I am an avid reader and theater-goer (at least, before the pandemic), am physically active and a risk-taker. In the past I was a marathon runner and a long distance biker. I have run both the New York and the Chicago marathons; did the AIDS Bike Ride in Alaska and have participated in the Ride Across Iowa (RAGBRI) several times. I also paint and have attended summer art programs and have sold some of my paintings at Art Fairs.

I am currently a law student and am on the road to appreciating a new kind of study: that of various legal doctrines, statutory interpretation and methods of argumentation.
