I am a graduate of Bard College with my BA in Chemistry and Biochemistry. I am currently pursing my MA in Biochemistry at CUNY Hunter College. I have multiple years of experience as a middle school science teacher, as well as being a tutor and teaching assistant for undergraduate chemistry courses. I am passionate about science and math, and am a huge advocate for science and math literacy opening doors for all peoples futures. I am a PhD candidate in Sociocultural Anthropology at Columbia University. I graduated Magna Cum Laude from McGill University with a double major in Sociology and World Religions, which I followed with an MA in Religious Studies. I then moved to Columbia where I completed another MA and an MPhil both in Anthropology. I have done extensive ethnographic and archival research in India with support from the Fulbright Foundation, the Wenner-Gren Foundation, and the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada. Throughout my graduate level education I have worked as a Teaching Assistant, lecturing, grading, and designing curriculum for university level students. As a teaching assistant, I have also tutored countless university students, assisting them in developing their skills as readers, writers, and critical thinkers. Beyond the university, I have tutored young children, ages 7-14, in English through an NGO in India, as well as adults in New York in the Tamil language. Much of my tutoring experience was helping struggling students prepare for Standardized Tests. There I conducted research for my parliamentarian, Dagmar Freitag, and interpreted at official functions. Italian I have been learning since since 2008 and now speak at a proficient level.During this process, I have also enjoyed teaching German and Italian at summer immersion camps, and on a one-on-one basis with middle school, high school and college students. After graduating, I moved to Texas and started working in the school system. I received my alternative certification in Elementary Education as well as Special Education. I have worked with all ages of students, with a large portion of my experience being with those who are elementary aged. I have experience working with students of all abilities, with an extensive background with those in the Special Education field. My favorite subjects to tutor are any in the elementary age range, I find the students really do great with the positive reinforcements I provide them. Outside of academics, I have been a 911 dispatcher for the past 4 years. I still frequently play my bassoon, and enjoy reading and watching television.

One of my students had dyslexia and English as a second language. That student passed all his High School classes with A/B grades.
