I am a recent graduate from The University of Georgia in Genetics with a minor in Math. Like most students prior to the start of college, I always pondered: Why do I need to take all of these math classes if I am a science major? When will I ever use this in my life? The answer came to me once I entered into college and took my first couple of math classes. I discovered that mathematics and science interchange with each other and understanding one will enable you to have a deeper comprehension of the other.I started tutoring fellow classmates throughout my high school career. The topics that I tutored ranged from pre-algebra to pre-calculus. In college, I began to tutor my classmates in Calculus I and II along with many science courses such as Biology, Organic Chemistry, and Genetics. When I teach my classmates about any topic, I will always initiate by asking them questions regarding the topic they are struggling with. This will allow me to know specifically where and what they are struggling with and need help in. Afterward, I will clearly explain and clarify any misunderstanding they have. Once they believe that they have completely understood the topic, I will then ask them to explain it to me. My main theme is that "If a student is unable to explain to me the concept, then he/she does not understand the topic." My desire to tutor others is not only to help them figure out many approaches to solve a problem or understand a concept, but I also want them to understand the importance of what they are learning and its applications to real life. This will enlighten them and make them want to learn more, not just to know the topic and stop.During my free time, I love playing basketball and going bowling with friends. One of the games that I love to play the most is Chess because it allows me to think ahead and it opens my mind to many possibilities.

Learning is one of the most rewarding, useful, and fun things that a person can do. My goal as a tutor is not only to help students complete assigned tasks and get good grades, but also to understand why the material is important and how it can help them in life. If I can help a student to be motivated to learn, aspire to fulfill meaningful goals, and give them the tools they need to reach those goals, then I will consider the time that I have spent with them as a success.I graduated from University at Buffalo with a B.A. in Math and Economics and an M.S. in Economics with an advanced certificate in Finance. I now work at M&T Bank as a Credit Analyst. I aspire to start my own business next year.I try to put effort into improving at everything that I do because I believe that anything worth doing is worth doing well. Some of my life achievements include, being an all county 1st singles player on my high school tennis team, improving my max bench press by 35lbs in 3 months, running a marathon, climbing a mountain, clearing a 40 feet long ski jump, ranking in the top 10 players in upstate NY in a video game, getting a job in my field immediately after college, being chosen to lead a project at work even though I am one of the newest people there, completing 3 college degrees in 5 years with a high GPA, working at least part time every year since I was in 10th grade, and ranking 1st every week in location accuracy and pulls per week as a backroom team member at Target. I am currently independently learning coding through codecademy.com and freecodecamp.com and am in the process of creating my own website. These things all resulted from the common theme of focused effort and a clear mindset for improvement. Improvement happens when you try to do something, fail, figure out what you're doing wrong, and try to fix it. Everyone can improve at everything if they stay focused, adapt their improvement methods, and try again. It's never too late. Some things take more time than others, but everything is achievable. If you have an idea of what you want to accomplish in the future, start now and you'll be much more likely to get to where you want to be.

I teach high school mathematics at an Austin area high school. I love teaching and I love math! My students think it's weird, but my desire is for them to love math a little bit more than when they start working with me. I am confident that everyone is able to learn math, and I feel blessed to be able to help them along in their journey! My favorite subject to teach is Algebra. I love how everything works together, and how students get great opportunities to further their problem solving skills!I graduated in 2011 with a mathematics degree with a teaching option from the University of Texas in Austin. I was a part of the UTeach program which began at UT Austin and has been replicated in over 20 major universities because of its effectiveness to produce quality teachers. I am honored to be a UTeach Alumni. I am also a certified high school mathematics teacher in the state of Texas. My university education and experience make me a highly qualified tutor.Yet, I wouldn't say my qualifications on paper are my greatest assets. I truly want to see all of my students succeed and grow as people and as learners. My personal commitment to my students is the greatest thing that pushes them to greater levels of learning.

I have been tutoring students in mainly math and English since I was in junior high schoolWhile I tutor a broad range of subjects, I'm most passionate about Science, English, Math, and Film. In my experience helping students raise their grades to passing marks, I have had the most success starting with a part of the subject the student enjoys or understands best and relate it to what they are having issues grasping until they feel confident enough to tackle the whole problem completely.I am extremely passionate about learning and education and I do my best to impart this love of learning onto any student I have the pleasure to spend time with. In my spare time I enjoy reading, playing video games, making movies, and playing with my two pet birds.

I have 9 years of University level teaching experience in Chemistry, Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry. I love tutoring people because it helps keep key concepts fresh in my head. Not everything you learn in school will be used, but some of it will be! And you don't know which parts until much much later. I focus on imparting understanding to my students. I detest rote memorization. Conceptual understanding will help you ace tests in this course and the ones after it!

I am freshman at the University of Arizona. I am majoring in aerospace engineering with a minor in studio art. I have multiple years experience tutoring many different ages and skill levels in mathematics. My personal tutoring style is based upon guidance, not instruction. By teaching using concepts that a student already understands, it is possible for them to feel just as comfortable with new material as with basic mathematics.
