Math Tutoring review by Brandon in Lawrence, MA
During our first session, the student and I reviewed her last quiz on which she received a 50/100. We analyzed the answers to the questions she missed and I explained the correct answers to her in detail. We then did practice questions from her textbook for the areas she had difficulty in. She has difficulty in solving functions in fractional form and forgets to plug in negative numbers properly. While solving fractions she often misses crucial parts of the equation and misses the answers. After pointing out this error to her I recommended she practice more test questions. I then gave test taking strategies, to solve for the easiest questions and then move to the more difficult problems. Overall, she made a lot of progress but she still needs to work at it to have a solid understanding of precalculus and bring up her grade.

Math Tutoring review by Rudy in Lawrence, MA
The student wanted help with his algebra 2. He is still struggling when it comes to the quizzes/exams. He appears to understand the material during our sessions but seems to have trouble performing well in class. The mistake I keep seeing that seems to cause those issues is that he keeps making small mistakes with signs and subtracting/adding numbers correctly. He does this at the beginning of the problem which causes the rest of the problem to be incorrect. Luckily, he seems to notice now when the math isn't adding up or if the numbers seem too off. Hopefully with more practice he will be able to recognize those mistakes early on (or not make them at all). The material was on solving/graphing inequalities and absolute values.

Math Tutoring review by Yongqing in Lawrence, MA
His class is now in the "finding derivatives of a single-variable function" section, by using basic definitions, and certain properties like quotient and chain rules. He is grasping the fundamentals of the operations astonishingly well, but needs help on some subtle issues involving inverse function and exponential functions. So I explained these in an intuitive way and solved some problems as exercises. He picked up those quickly and really has top performance as a high schooler.
