I have always admired tutors as being these altruistic individuals who are using endowed gifts to make a difference in another person's life. Tutoring's striking resemblance to medicine ultimately contributes to my desire and enjoyment of being a tutor, for having a positive impact on someone as much as possible is a daily goal of mine.

Hello! I am a rising sophomore at the University of Colorado Boulder studying International Relations and Journalism. In high school, I completed the International Baccalaureate program and select AP courses (AB Calc, Biology). Though I have experience teaching students in French and English/ESL, I am able to tutor in most middle and high school course subjects. My teaching philosophy relies on patience, repetition and simplifying difficult concepts in a way that takes the intimidation out of learning new material. I am a prospective Computer Science major from Austin, Texas, currently in the summer before my senior year at the University of Houston. During my undergraduate career so far I have taken to tutoring as a way to give back to my school's community, and I've decided to expand my horizons and help more people by coming here. While I tutor a range of subjects, I am at my best tutoring Computer Science and Computer Programming, with Math and Science-based subjects not too far behind. I prefer to give my students the big picture concepts at play in whatever field I'm guiding them though, so that they can discover the solutions to their problems and be prepared to use the same concepts again in the future.

Biomedical Engineering Student at FIU. Math have been always my strong subject since middle school. At Miami Dade College, I tutored all STEM subjects up to Differential equations for almost 2 years. I don't consider math a hard subject if you know the theories behind them. For me math can be fun!! When tutoring students ,I show them how to solve questions using critical thinking which can help save time and also how to be confident while solving.

I presently teach at the college level and I have also taught mathematics from grades K-12. Students benefit from tutoring sessions with me because they feel confident with the assignments they are given, and are able to retain and utilize the concepts that I have taught them. I know that they usually understand or master the topics I teach them, because I informally assess them at the end of the session and their results are at or above the level they are expected to be at. In addition, I use approaches where I relate the subject matter to their personal interests where they can form a connection.

I graduated from Watkins Mill High School in 2013 with an IB Diploma. Currently, I am a student at University of Maryland's Honors College majoring in Neurobiology and Physiology, and minoring in Mathematics. I've tutored elementary school students in basic science with a professor from the Chemistry department, as well as high school students in Algebra 1 at the University of Maryland. My favorite subjects to teach are Math and Chemistry. My teaching philosophy is to strengthen my student's basic understanding of subjects and get them to understand the topic rather than just memorize (which unfortunately is how most public schools work). I approach teaching from the perspective that my students should learn not just what to think, but how to think. This way, they can apply their knowledge to any problem and actually retain what they've learned. When I'm not tutoring, I enjoy watching TV (who doesn't?) as well as cooking. I also enjoy swimming, hiking, and exercising in general. I'm also very involved in working for campaigns in the public's interest, such as campaigning to reduce pollution in Maryland waters as well to stop the overuse of antibiotics. I feel as if I'm a very good communicator and tutor, and am more than capable of teaching students how to think critically and correctly about any subject.

I am a law student, but I took an unusual route to get there. I used to attend medical school but had a change of heart in my career path. Part of this was due to my political science major (double major with biology) in college as well as a number of Spanish and other courses that I took. Tutoring is something, I feel, that has come naturally to me, even back to my high school days. My goal is to help you learn as much as you can and reach your true potential. I will work hard to make sure that this happens, as long as you put in the work, too! We will work together to tailor your learning experience to your needs.

Jessica is a graduate of the University of Central Florida (UCF). She received her Bachelor of Science in Biology as well as her Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies with focuses on music and sociology. Additionally, she received a minor in leadership studies. While studying at UCF, Jessica served as a tutor for Academic Services for Student Athletes (ASSA), where she worked with student athletes on a variety of subjects, from life sciences and social sciences to music and statistics. Jessica is most passionate about Biology, Environmental Science, and Marine Biology. As a previous International Baccalaureate (IB) student, she enjoys helping other IB students thrive in the program by equipping them with the study skills and organizational tools to be successful. She is passionate about learning and greatly values the importance of making content relatable. During her time tutoring student athletes, she frequently used metaphors and mnemonics that would connect to the student's chosen sport to help them grasp the material better.
