My name is Anna Nicole Mercer and I am ready to help you succeed! If you're trying to achieve your goals, I totally understand your desire to learn and the need to have someone there to help you out. I couldn't keep up with the class as a kid. After a few years, I had developed the ability to focus and organize myself so that I would be able to succeed in the classroom in college. Lifelong learning is a habit that can be developed and appreciated. It doesn't matter whether I had a billion dollars or not, I would still want to teach and discover something new every day. In my experience listening to my students and understanding how they wish to learn is one of the best ways to help them reach their academic goals. The degrees I hold are in Theatre, Film, and Interactive Media. Over the course of my academic career I have studied literature, writing, and other languages. I have also received a certification from Harvard University in Shakespeare's Life and Work. I am an expert in language and theatre arts with an affinity for the classics. I firmly believe that being able to comprehend what you read and then write about it in a cognizant matter is one of the most important things to master when you are young. I have taught elementary students in grades K-6, middle school students in grades 7-9, high school students grades 10-12 and college students up to the graduate level.. One of my areas of expertise is in the preparation of SAT and ACT test-takers with a focus on reading and writing. In addition, I have assisted students in preparing college entrance essays. Over the last 30 years, I have been actively involved in US Government and politics through the work I do as a volunteer. This makes me uniquely qualified to tutor civics, history, policy and public speaking. It's a pleasure to meet you. I live in Philadelphia, with a few cats, and an obstinate pug named Elle Woods.

The tutor and student relationship should always be a positive, interactive, and creative experience that continues to grow with the student's academic ambitions. In my eyes, the word "student" can easily be replaced with "thinker" or "individual," because everyone is unique when it comes to their perspective and thought-process about the world around them.In my view, the best part about my approach to tutoring is that "we" get to decide what personal practices will create the greatest learning experience for you. Of course, the final product of any assignment that you are given needs to be exactly as your school teacher wants it. But the roads, the turns, and the pace that we take to complete that finished product is entirely up to you! If your assignment was to create a painting, I will bring the paint and the brushes - but you will paint the masterpiece with your own ideas.I promise to do my very best to help you get the job done and learn some new critical thinking skills along the way. I am enjoyable to work with, and I promise that you will feel proud about the work that we do after every session!Sincerely,James

Hi. I travel. I write. I teach.I am a chronic adventure-seeker and a lifelong learner. My favorite aspect of the current landscape of education is the use and implementation of technology. It allows us to explore, connect and be free. With my current dissertation, I am hoping to prove that the modern student may actually learn more efficiently in an online environment. When I’m not teaching, my passion is spending time with my wife and my family traveling, fishing, surfing and most importantly, enjoying great food!

African-American History Tutor • +23 Subjects
From an early age, I have always loved reading and learning about literature and history from around the world. Studying the past and the future through material objects such as books and historical records is a passion of mine which allows for a better understanding of the world. I have tutored for a number of years, served as a professor for years, and am happy to pass on to students information necessary in order to succeed!I like to begin sessions initially with finding out about the student themselves and how best they learn/what they believe their weak areas are.Once this is completed, I usually target these areas initially within the first session to get a feel of where the student is within the subject. From there on, I will plan sessions targeting areas we would have discussed which will include re-cap activities to see if the student is retaining the information that I have taught. This structure allows the students confidence to increase as they will get a clear indication that they are improving with their subject as they move on and target another area they are unsure on.I think it is very important to stress any achievement or improvement no matter how small to show their improvement which will allow them to complete tasks independently with ease and confidence so that they feel ready for exams.

I help law students make "A's," plain and simple. I have hundreds of hours of tutoring, and I have devised a system that is readily available to students to aid them in the reason that they are reaching out for tutoring in the first place -- making "A's." In addition, I have also written a book available on Amazon, "Beating the Law School Curve," that acts as a supplement guide for the 1L student just new to law school.

I am a former teacher who loves learning and seeing students learn things they never thought they could learn. I have lived in KC for almost 4 years and am really falling in love with the city.I taught high school Spanish 1 for two years and taught theater for three years. My teaching style is structured, but fun. I am firm believer in practicing as much as possible and getting friends and family in on your learning. I use power points, props, videos, games, and whatever else I can find to make sure that every student is learning according to their learning style.

I am most recently a graduate of Baylor University where I received a doctorate in Religion, Politics, and Society. I also have an MA in Religion from Andrews University, a law degree from Harvard, and I received my BA in Political Science from the University of Connecticut. I tutor in history, political science, GRE and SAT test prep, and in public speaking and essay writing. I enjoy political science, essay writing and public speaking the most. While working on my doctorate I taught students on the college level, and my philosophy for working with those students informs the way I tutor. I try my best to establish that we are a team, working together to get the right answers and to learn the material. I try to stay away from rigid hierarchy as much as possible, while still making sure that we get the work done. Outside of teaching I am a sports fan (Philadelphia fan forever! Eagles, Sixers, and Phillies in that order, as well as UCONN basketball), and I have recently gotten back into my childhood habit of reading comic books.
