I am a recent graduate of Temple University with a M.S. in Mathematics. I previously tutored during my time as an undergraduate at Appalachian State University, where I helped fellow undergrads in math. I tutor for a variety of math subjects; my most passionate subject is algebra, as I believe having a solid foundation is key to appreciation and success for mathematics. My goals when tutoring are always to help students grasp the concepts, as afterwards solving problems is a matter of application. Outside of math, I enjoy rock climbing, playing games of all kinds, and learning about computers.

I love Math and Science. I am a Duke University graduate with a degree in Computer Science, where I also played football and am currently working on a Master's Degree in Cybersecurity. I have always loved math and science and problem solving and these subjects have always been easy for me. I know this is not the case with many people and I have been tutoring since high school. I used to volunteer the local elementary and middle school and also my peers. In college, I helped tutor teammates and family and friends. I was the go to person for math and science when someone needed help even friends siblings at home in different states. Every since I can remember I have always been good at math and enjoyed learning different levels. For tutoring, I have learned to adjust how I tutor based on the needs of the person because everyone learns math different. I currently have a full time job but in my spare time I like being outdoors, spending time with family and friends, and animals. My family has a couple cats and a few dogs and I love to go spend time there with them.

I am a graduate of Duke University, as well as Duquesne University. I received my Bachelor of Arts in political science and German with a focus on international relations and twentieth century totalitarian regimes. I received my Master of Arts in Public Policy Management with a focus on energy policy, particularly unconventional hydrocarbons like shale gas. During my undergraduate studies, I spent 6 months living in Berlin, Germany as part of a full-immersion language acquisition program. Professionally, I spent almost a decade as a small business owner, operating my own financial planning firm. I decided to return for higher education because of a deep interest in energy markets, developed during my career as a financial advisor. While I tutor a broad range of subjects, I am most passionate about Economics (particularly microeconomics), Political Science, History, and Math. In my experience helping struggling students prepare for Standardized Tests like the GRE, I have seen the most success assisting students in understanding the logic of these exams, how they have been constructed, and what the best approach for leveraging that knowledge is. I have a deep commitment to education. Education is necessary not just for establishing employable skills, but more importantly to create an informed population. In my spare time, I enjoy blacksmithing and knifemaking, playing my drums and guitar, listening to a wide array of music, and spending as much time as possible with my family.

I received my Bachelor of Arts in Integrative Biology from the University of California, Berkeley where I focused on ecology and evolutionary biology. As an undergraduate, I had the chance to serve in two teaching positions on campus. In the first course, I assisted graduate students and professors to guide a class through core level biology. The second was a hands-on affair, in which I led students through the preparation of animal specimens for preservation in a museum. Through my experiences, I have discovered that the best way to learn and teach a subject is to tackle it with a variety of approaches. For example, students intimidated by the technical jargon of math often find problems easier to understand when symbols are replaced with words. Through such strategies, I aim to make dense material more communicable and relatable and to provide students with the confidence to accept new challenges. I am most excited to discuss ecology, evolution, and math, but I am also able to tutor subjects such as physics, writing, and standardized testing. In my free time, I enjoy playing video games, practicing martial arts, and hiking.

Born and raised in Woolwich, Maine I'm a recent resident of the Pacific Northwest. I just graduated with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Northeastern University in Boston in January of 2016. I currently work full time as a Project Engineer designing and building custom equipment for manufacturing airplanes in Mukilteo, WA.I've always loved math and science, which drove me down the career path I'm on. I challenged myself in high school and took advantage of every opportunity I could to learn more about these subjects. I took AP classes, college classes online, and was a part of several science and math based competitive teams. In college, I furthered my education by completing advanced courses in math, physics, and engineering. While I didn't start officially tutoring until I was in college, I've always found the time to help my friends and fellow students when they were having trouble with a concept or problem. I really enjoy being able to explain complex topics in simple, easy to understand ways so that those around me can gain a better understanding of the world.I spend my free time hiking, backpacking, rock climbing, skiing, wind surfing, and traveling. I also have a love for seafood and the open ocean.

Hi everyone, my name is Chelsea, it's nice to meet you! I have a B.S. in Physics and a M.S. in Bioinformatics and Computational Biology from UT Dallas (Go Comets!) and I love to help physics, chemistry, biology and math students of all levels.Let's talk about sessions....Subjects: For sciences I only teach biology, chemistry and physics and very closely related kinds of general physics, I do not have a speciality in any particular type of physics unless it is part of the undergraduate curriculum for physics majors accepted by most universities (such as Thermodynamics, Optics, etc). I now tutor mathematics as well.I operate on a first-come first-serve basis to make session timing fair to all students. Requests made for next day session under 24 hours can only be honored if there is available space. Any cancellations for same day session requests will be invoiced as a 24 hour cancellation. For New Students:Please send me your most recent updated availability as soon as you can, thank you! This speeds up the process of scheduling tremendously.Materials: I can't emphasize this enough. Please send any materials you'd like to cover during the session at least 24 hours before our scheduled session time (so that I have enough time to prepare), it's never too early to send materials to my email.Time Zones: Also, unless otherwise specified, all session times will be communicated in CST (converting your time zone to CST) for ease of use and to reduce confusion considering Varsity Tutors has students from all over the United States and Canada.

Hi! I recently graduated college from WashU and am passionate about removing as much frustration from studying as possible! I graduated with an A average GPA with A's in general chemistry (I&;II), Introductory Biology (I&;II), Organic Chemistry (I&;II), Physics (I&;II), and their accompanying lab sections. I also worked as a Peer Led Team Learning Instructor and a peer tutor throughout college so I am comfortable working 1:1 and in groups, making sure my students stay engaged and maximize our time together.I take an integrative approach to tutoring, ensuring that we review topics holistically and work on how to attack the problems you might see on quizzes and exams. I find this approach keeps students from being overwhelmed with background information and helps them feel like they can tackle homework and practice problems on their own.I am currently on my gap year before medical school. I've taken the MCAT twice, first scoring a 515 and then a 518. Since then I have been tutoring in all MCAT subjects and I am confident I could help a student reach any score goal. I am comfortable working with students with a variety of study time frames whether that be 6 months or 6 weeks.I have a general MCAT study approach that I find works for 90% of my students, but I am always open to feedback and tailoring my approach for each of my students. I am familiar with most if not all available MCAT materials (UWorld, Kaplan, Princeton, AAMC, etc.) and I can make recommendations on what materials to purchase so that you and your family don't waste time and resources on materials that aren't representative of the actual exam. Before college, I took both the ACT and the SAT, scoring a 35 on the ACT and a 1580 on the SAT. I'm happy to work with student on test prep and also college applications and college counseling. For my college students, I strive to change my tutoring methods based on my students, whether that be making beautiful study guides, making flashcards, or writing songs or short stories that help create a story of the not-so-fun information we have to learn.
