As a teacher I have two main goals. My first goal is that my students understand the material and can show that they have mastered it through class assignments, exams or through discussions. I believe that every student has unique needs and learning styles and that as a teacher I need to design lesson plans that address those learning styles and use the student's strengths to master the curriculum. My second goal is to create a learning environment that is enjoyable for students.

My favorite classes when I was a student always had to do with history. So, I enjoy teaching those subjects. But I also enjoy teaching civics/government. I have taught reading in the elementary school grades, history and civics in the middle school grades and U.S. government at the high school level.

My training and studies have given me the expertise necessary to help students who have difficulties in class or those who have fallen behind. It has also given me strategies to help those students who like to accelerate their learning and be at the top of their class. Here in Florida students need to pass very difficult state exams in civics and US government and my track record for student success is excellent.

I have a passion for reading and learning. This passion led me to pursue advanced degrees. I have a master's degree and a doctoral degree in reading and learning disabilities.

As a tutor I work with students who need help with reading and writing and in US and World History and Civics/government. I lived in Italy for 23 years where I worked as a language teacher so I also work with students who want to learn Italian.
