I studied at Southern Methodist University (SMU) and graduated magna cum laude in 2017 with two degrees: A Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theatre Studies (Playwriting). At SMU, I was also initiated into Kappa Tau Alpha, an honor society recognizing academic excellence in journalism and mass communication. After graduation, I spent five years on the staff of The Dallas Morning News (one of the top circulating newspapers in the United States) as a Digital Editor and Staff Writer. I tutor in a broad range of subjects at the college and high school level, including but not limited to American and European history, creative writing, English, essay writing and editing, grammar, literature, news writing, public speaking, Shakespeare, social studies and text analysis. I am incredibly passionate about helping students improve their writing. I firmly believe that writing is a foundational skill that sets students up to comprehend the world around them and become lifelong learners. At its core essence, writing is storytelling, and I train storytellers. When away from my computer, I enjoy cooking, reading, traveling and playing with my dog, a Wheaten Terrier named Doak.
