Certified Tutor

I am a graduate of both Spelman College and Georgia State University. I received my Bachelor of Arts in Child Development and completed the teacher certification program as well. I went on to complete a Master of Education degree and a Educational Specialist degree, both in School Psychology. Since graduation, I have taught extensively, teaching in both the private and public-school setting; English as a second language (ESL) on-line to children and adults living in China, Taiwan, and Japan; and tutoring elementary students in the United States through an online guided reading program; as well as serving as a learning coach for my children enrolled in a top-rated virtual school. While I tutor a broad range of subjects, I am most passionate about Reading, Writing, and Study/Organizational Skills. I truly see helping people across the country and world learn to read, write, and speak English fluently, as a unique and rewarding experience.

I feel honored to be able to serve in this capacity and intend to work hard to inspire each student that I work with to nurture a life-long love of learning. Furthermore, I believe that task-based learning in ESL helps to provide students with a natural context in which to acquire new skills. It focuses on the true needs of the students rather than simply a predetermined learning objective. I am a strong component of the communicative approach to language learning and believe that true learning can take place when it is led by student experiences.
