Certified Tutor

I have a master's degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and have been teaching various math subjects for Varsity Tutors for the past six years. My subset specialties are Singapore Math as well as middle and high school level math, to include pre-Algebra, Algebra and Geometry. After building a career in the academic and private sector and starting a family, I turned my love of math and the sciences to teaching for the past 15 years. My teaching experience has been developed through multiple opportunities to instruct a diverse audience of students across a variety of settings; including as a teaching assistant at the university level, as a community college instructor working with high school students through the Upward Bound program, as a FIRST Robotics Lego League Coach for middle schoolers from different schools in western Massachusetts, as a 4H Science Club Leader for elementary and middle schoolers, and as an math instructor for a Home-Schooling Co-Op. I am most passionate about teaching general and specified science, Pre-Algebra, Geometry and Algebra. I recognize the importance of understanding the students learning style and know that customizing my teaching style for the student results in better understanding, material retention, excitement for learning and the greatest potential for success. I have significant experience teaching students of all ages and backgrounds. I am passionate about watching students grow in their learning and understanding and am gratified to see the fruit of their hard work. I have a particular talent in assisting students with learning disabilities or with attention issues (ADD and ADHD). I am fluent in Spanish. In my spare time, I enjoy reading, playing board games and ice skating with my family.
