Certified Tutor
Helping students through tutoring is something that is important to me, because the confidence students acquire through mastering academic material is extremely rewarding to see.
I am a recent college graduate. I received my bachelor's degree in history with a focus in American history. During my time in college, I realized the importance of forming an argument, as well as the importance of social studies skills. In college, I helped numerous friends re-write papers by helping them to create stronger evidence-based arguments. This experience allowed me to see the true impact of having strong social studies skills, as well as the many ways these skills can enhance writing for other disciplines. I believe students may struggle to learn these skills in school due to the name-and-date way of teaching social studies, but I also believe this is where a good tutor can help.
My tutoring style relies on student involvement. I believe each student learns differently and developing a plan of action together is the key to success.
Outside of tutoring, I also work at a history museum in the education department. At the museum, I teach home school classes, lead k-12 tours, and work closely with the public. Outside of work, I love to hang out with my dog and do crafts.
