I have an M.S. in Mathematics. I started tutoring in the Middle Tennessee area in 2012 and I have loved every moment of it. Starting out with basic mathematics, I have now taught a variety of subjects including mathematics (elementary school to Master's level), physics (I,II), chemistry (I,II), and engineering (statics, dynamics, mechanics of materials etc.).

My teaching philosophy is that students must be taught how to think about the given subject and develop intuition, and the grades will follow automatically. It makes me happy to say that I have been a part of many students' academic success, in terms of grades as well as development of interest in their classes.

Over the many years I have tutored, I have been able to identify likely areas of misconception in a subject in students' minds and to answer questions precisely. Also, I like to make the subjects I teach easily accessible to beginners by using colloquial terms rather than technical ones, simple pictures and convincing arguments rather than complex formulas. Having said that, as the student develops, I place an increased emphasis on computational skills and teach them several tips and tricks.

When you teach anyone anything, and it clicks, you can see in their face a satisfaction and sense of accomplishment. This is what I seek in this profession. Knowing that the student leaves the meeting with a better grasp of the subject than when he/she came in gives me great satisfaction. Playing a part in the educational development of someone and helping them achieve their goals gives me purpose.
