I am very happy with our experience so far with Varsity Tutors. They matched my daughter with reading specialist Mary and she is wonderful! My 10 year old daughter feels happy after her sessions and believes her tutor has already helped her.

Certified Tutor

I am a proud George Mason Patriot! I graduated from GMU in 2011 with a major in Spanish and a minor in Latin American Studies. Prior to graduating I studied abroad in the Dominican Republic, Cuba, and Spain. It gave me a wonderful opportunity to enhance my skills in the Spanish language and to completely immerse myself in the Latin culture. I had experience volunteering as an ESOL teacher with Tenants and Workers United. Also, I was a Consular Services intern with The Consulate of Costa Rica in Washington, D.C. These experiences prepared me to speak Spanish fluently.
Immediately after I graduated, I began teaching at a Elementary Spanish Immersion charter school for 4 years. I had experience with preschoolers, 1st, and 2nd graders. After teaching there, I moved to Fairfax County Public Schools where I was a FLES (foreign language in elementary school) for 2 years. I taught grades k-6. The curriculum not only focused on Spanish speaking skills, its main focus was STEM. It was great and very challenging combining science, technology, engineering, math, and Spanish altogether.
After teaching for 5 and a half years, I decided to take some time out of the classroom to transition into another career that will also give me more time to focus on my family. However, I still look for opportunities like tutoring to educate clients to reach their fullest potential.
My hobbies include traveling, photography, cooking, and spending time with my family. I am happy that I can be an assistance to you! Suerte!
