Paul: Vancouver tutor
Certified Tutor
I am a graduate of Southern Nazarene University with a Bachelors of Science in Theology and a graduate of the University of Phoenix with a Masters in Education/Adult Education and Training. During my undergrad work, I travelled to Europe were I expanded my practical application of Spanish and Portuguese. Since returning to the United States, I have worked in several venues providing linguistic translation services and assisting in ESL assignments.
While I tutor a broad range of subjects, I am passionate about comparative religion, Spanish and SAT prep. I am a believer in practical based application and will always bring learning back to the "Why". I believe that this not only enhances a deeper understanding of a subject but also encourages overall retention.
In my spare time, I enjoy a work-life balance that includes weight-lifting, podcast binging, meditation and yoga, reading and novel writing along with an occasional visit to Children's Mercy Park to see KC Sporting win another match.

Problem-based learning and clear application techniques helps a deeper appreciation of a subject and a greater retention.
What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
Walk through materials in use, get to know the student, assist in any current challenges student is facing in a class or subject and address future curriculum.
How can you help a student become an independent learner?
Application-based learning helps students understand subjects in deeper ways, encouraging students to think more critically through the subject.
