I am very happy with our experience so far with Varsity Tutors. They matched my daughter with reading specialist Mary and she is wonderful! My 10 year old daughter feels happy after her sessions and believes her tutor has already helped her.

Certified Tutor

I graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and History. While a student at Penn, I obtained my initial experience as a tutor, working with undergraduate students in economics and mathematics. During this time I observed that in order to optimize the impact of tutoring sessions, it is essential to identify what teaching method resonates most strongly with each student. I am excited to work with you to see how you learn, and to make the most of our tutoring sessions. I firmly believe that a 'one size fits all' approach to tutoring is ineffective, andby failing to tailor to an individual student's mindsetthis approach leaves progress unrealized.

While I am available to tutor a variety of subjectsranging from Algebra to EnglishI am particularly passionate about working with students who are planning to take the Law School Admissions Test (LSAT) and helping students with college and graduate school application essays. The law school admissions process is intimidating, even daunting for those in the early stages of applying. The LSAT is a difficult test and it must be treated with respectit is the most important piece of your law school application. However, the LSAT is learnable, and with proper preparation and diligent study, I am confident that anyone can improve their LSAT score. My enthusiasm stems from my own experience with the LSATI initially found the material frustrating and confusing; however, after hours of consistent practice I was able to tune into the thought processes tested by the LSAT, and had attained confidence in my abilities by test day. A solid showing on the LSAT will open doors for youit certainly did for me. I am happy to work with anyone at any stage in her or his LSAT preparation.

I thoroughly enjoy working with students who are excited about learning, and working towards academic goals. I believe that the learning process should be stimulating and that there are practical benefits to be reaped from our academic efforts. In my spare time I enjoy exercise, specifically running and powerlifting (although I still post some pretty novice numbers!). I like to read, watch films and check out new restaurants. I have resided in Philadelphia for eight years, and I work as an underwriter for a large insurance company. I will be starting law school in the fall.
