Most recently, I earned my doctorate in biology from Boston College conducting award-winning research as part of a leading team in the field of AIDS research. Prior to this, I worked as a research assistant at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston studying inflammation associated with kidney disease. I received my B.A. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, cum laude, from Boston University.
My educational experience includes freelance tutoring in the United States and in Italy, NSF-funded training programs to learn curriculum development and student assessment techniques, and eight semesters of teaching Principles of Immunology and Molecular and Cellular Biology at Boston College. I specialize in teaching math and science, with a focus on helping the student achieve a conceptual understanding of the material that can be applied to situations outside of a textbook.
In addition to helping students direct their talents towards a successful future, I also enjoy Italian language and culture, visual and performing arts, literature, and a well-prepared meal. I am also passionate about contemporary human rights issues including access to education, LGBT health, and gender equality.
