My biggest strength in teaching is my ability to adapt to a students needs based on how i feel or perceive the students retention of the topics. In 2015 I graduated from Valparaiso University with Bachelor's degrees in History and Classical Studies, taking classes in both Latin and civilization, and minored in Theology. While in college I participated in a number of tutoring programs where I tutored not only my peers in college level classes but also worked with local elementary school students as they prepared for their ISTEP exams. After graduation I served for two years at a high school in Chicago as part of a post-graduate volunteer program. While there I was able to teach sections of Latin and World History. As a tutor I look forward not only to helping students achieve their academic goals, but also guiding them to a greater appreciation for their education, especially in the area of history and Latin. In my two years as a teacher I have found that often a student gains far more from the one-to-one experiences. I look forward to the opportunity to bring out the best in each student in this way.

I received my education at the University of Minnesota Morris where I earned a triple major in Sociology, Psychology, and Political Science. I am a certified 8-12 social studies teacher. I am currently teaching 9th and 10th grade at a high school. Last year I worked with the Apollo 20 program were I taught Algebra 1 students. I have excellent math skills. I tutor Algebra 1, World Geography, World History, US History, Government, Sociology, and Psychology. My favorite to tutor is Algebra 1, since it is not just simply memorizing everything, but seeing the process unfold before you. I am very flexible when it comes to my teaching styles. I easily adjust myself to the student's need. I am also very big on responsibility as well. Outside of school I love to participate and watch sports. I played rugby and softball in college. I also danced for 12 years leading up to doing choreography work for college and being the dance coach at my school.

I recognize the inherent stress involved in taking standardized tests under timed conditions, but I strive to empower my students to do their best on test day through diligent preparation beforehand, and by breaking down the seemingly overwhelming task into more manageable parts. I have an honors B.S. in theoretical physics, theoretical mathematics, and astronomy and astrophysics; I also have a nontrivial amount of formal education in international affairs, political science, history, linguistics, computer programming, and several other topics. Totalled over various roles, I have been teaching and tutoring for a sum of five years (as of the end of 2016). My hobbies range over topics such as fun reading and being part of several fandoms (Harry Potter, Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, Wheel of Time, Kingkiller Chronicles, and several others), academic reading and history podcasting, conlanging (creating languages), camping/hiking, kayaking, Boy Scouts/Scouting, puzzle solving (blacksmith's puzzles, Rubik's solids, etc.), and playing with math.
