I am in my senior year studying to get a bachelor's in Physics Education with a Math Education minor through BYU Idaho. I'm currently student teaching in Physics at a high school in Utah, and will finish with student teaching and with my degree in April! For as long as I can remember, I have loved math and science, especially the problem-solving side of it. If I had to pick a favorite subject to teach, it would probably be algebra, because I have had the most experience tutoring this subject, and because I love the logic of it. Logic puzzles and sudoku puzzles are my favorite things to do on a long car ride when I'm not singing along to the radio! Besides singing, I also enjoy being with friends, whether that be inside playing games, or outside swimming and hiking and being adventurous. I've been tutoring on my own for the last 8 years, in both math and science, and have had lots of different learning experiences with it! Every student and tutoring session has been unique, and has helped me learn and grow as a tutor and future teacher. I've tutored mostly middle and high school students, but have also had small experiences tutoring elementary school and college students.

I graduated from the University of Arizona with dual Bachelor of Science degrees in Mathematics and Physics. I continued my education at MIT and earned a Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering. I have worked with students from a wide range of backgrounds and subjects, ranging from tutoring kindergartners in their first exposure to language arts and middle school students in algebra and reading, to assisting with lower-division collegiate math courses. I particularly enjoy helping students gain confidence with math. I believe that all students are capable of understanding math, and I seek to help them explore mathematical concepts in a way that makes the subject less abstract and more intuitive. Outside of the classroom, my passion is competitive Ballroom and Latin dance.

I am currently a rising junior at Carleton College where I am majoring in physics and minoring in mathematics. My current area of research is in soft matter and optics. At Carleton, I work as a problem solving facilitator in the physics department and as Makerspance manager, where I help students with projects ranging from sewing to electronics. I most enjoy tutoring physics, closely followed by math. In both of these subjects, I believe problem solving, both guided and independent is an ideal way to learn and solidify skills. Additionally, training a critical thinking and problem solving mindset is key to successfully approaching and solving new problems on the fly.

I have a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Amirkabir University, Tehran, Iran. I have taught math, physics, statics, strength of materials, dynamics, mechanical vibrations, automatic control, dynamics of machinery, numerical methods, vehicle dynamics both in graduate and undergraduate for more than 12 years.I start my tutoring sessions by explaining the basic concepts in each course and then solve some sample problems and then ask my students to help me solve some problems together. By doing so I understand if the concept and problem-solving skill is well understood or do we need to practice more. Then I ask them to solve some problems by themselves so they would have great confidence in themselves. I also give them some problems as homework so the problem-solving skills they have gained consolidate in their mind.I am passionate about working with students and seeing them thrive.I am a lifelong learner and learning is my passion. I also learn a lot from my students. So "Let's learn together."

As a successful graduate of a rigorous program, I believe it is extremely important to have a holistic undergraduate education, adequately preparing students to function in the real world. Personally, I graduated from Loyola University in Chicago, with a degree in Biophysics, and am awaiting the start of my doctoral program in Biophysics at the University of Pittsburgh. As the name would imply, biophysics is a new field applying advanced mathematical and physical principles to biological systems, at or below the molecular scale.On that vein, I enjoy teaching mathematics, physics, and biology. Although, for me, understanding physics provides the most intellectual satisfaction, I believe that the union of these three fields provides for some of the most interesting phenomenon present in contemporary empirical study. Additionally, I like assisting students in preparation for the ACT because in the short term it provides direct results that students see.Outside of school, I love playing tennis, weightlifting, and reading fantasy. I have played tennis for 12 years and was a part of several leagues around the suburbs (since Loyola does not have a team) while in college. However, while attending Loyola I also had to switch to weightlifting as my main form of exercise since there is not as much opportunity to play tennis in the city. Finally, when not doing research, or playing sports, I love reading fantasy novels, and have recently been going through H.P. Lovecraft's works and George R.R. Martin's Game of Thrones series.

My goal as a tutor is to show my students how exciting learning can be. Through enthusiasm and a genuine love for math and the sciences, I hope to influence my students to adopt this same passion for learning so that they are motivated to continue learning new material during their high school and college years. I have been tutoring for years and have thoroughly enjoyed the experience I have gained and the friendships I have made with other students. A native Texan, I grew up in Houston and attended St. Thomas High School before moving to Austin to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics at The University of Texas at Austin. I graduated from UT just this May with special departmental honors in math for my 20+ hours of graduate level coursework and senior research thesis. Currently, I am a first year pure math PhD student at Boston College.While at UT I worked for three years as an undergraduate teaching assistant and grader for multiple classes, including calculus (I, II, and III) and discrete math. There are few things more enjoyable than being of service to students trying to learn difficult material and seeing the gears in their heads start to turn as their confidence builds. I truly love studying math, and I work hard to communicate the beauty in math to all of my students.Having studied math at an advanced level for a few years now, I have a privileged insight into the rich structure of mathematics. I have worked in fields that are as difficult compared to calculus as calculus is compared to basic multiplication tables. As a result, I have developed a mastery of material from high school and early college level math, and I have spent the last three years practicing the way I communicate math so that assignments stop seeming like lifeless and disconnected assortments of problems.
