I am a graduate of Baylor University for both undergraduate and graduate degrees. I have a Bachelor of Business Administration focused in management and a Master of Business Administration specialized in Healthcare Administration. Although my degrees are both in business, my educational background is broad spanning from biology to corporate communication to business. My passion is in healthcare, so I am interested in all subjects affecting healthcare in general. My experience with tutoring started in high school working with fellow classmates and most recently has been with student athletes at Baylor University. I love working with all levels of students, and feel I connect well and adapt well to many types of personalities. During my free time I love to be active, especially outside. I also like to travel and spend time with family and friends.

I have lived in Texas all my life. I’ve moved from Houston to Austin and back again. I attended the University of Texas at Austin where I pursued a degree in sound engineering and recording technology with an emphasis in Pre-Med and Pre-Law. I plan on attending an institution where I can achieve a medical doctorate simultaneously with a degree in jurisdictional prudence.Five years at the UT has taught me how to take in complicated information, process it and teach it to fellow students. In a more professional atmosphere, I have helped students achieve their academic goals through tutoring on a high school level. That being said, there is a certain thrill that I have when I see someone comprehend a subject that was previously foreign to them. I have seen the look regarding subjects from an elementary level to a collegiate level. Regardless of what subject I am working with someone on, I will strive to make sure the student understands.Personally, I have an easily approachable personality. I’m friendly and easy for students and parents to get to know and trust. It’s difficult to teach someone unless there is a foundation of trust between the two parties and my disposition makes it easy to achieve that relationship.I have many hobbies. Primarily I love to practice my violin. I have been playing since I was two years old. My parents put a stick in one hand and a cardboard box in the other till I could handle the real thing. Other hobbies include fencing, reading, swimming and skiing.

I recently graduated with a degree in Early Childhood Education from Kennesaw State University. I have been tutoring off and on for roughly the past year. I specialize in tutoring children who are between the ages of 5 and 12. Specifically, I am qualified to tutor students in Math, Language Arts, Science, and Social Studies. My preferences tend towards Science and Social Studies; however, I am more than proficient in each of the said subjects. I tend to prefer a hands on approach where I directly address the student's personal needs. In my spare time, I enjoy reading, working on computer hardware, and developing software.

I have recently graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in May 2013, majoring in Biochemistry and minoring in Mandarin Chinese. Since graduation, I have spent my time finishing premed requirements for my future applications to medical school, visiting my family in Italy, and privately tutoring students in New York City high schools. Having been raised in New York City myself, I have first-hand experience with the rigorous academic curriculums and standardized tests with which many New York City students are challenged. I feel passionate about imparting the academic knowledge and advice that I have cultivated during my studies to other students. I tutor a broad range of subjects, however, my passions are Biology, Chemistry and Math. During my free time, I enjoy reading and training for half-marathons.

When it comes to tutoring, my philosophy is that learning should be fun, or at least as painless as possible. My background primarily involves helping liberal arts students experience math and science in a way that makes sense to them. In high school, I struggled with math and science classes and believed that I would never be good at them. After a break of several years, I'm currently in the middle of an undergraduate in Applied Mathematics. I was fortunate enough to have a paradigm shift in the way I perceived myself and the world around me and love getting to share the good news with others: people who prefer reading and making music and art can also do great in their other classes, especially when the math and science is presented the right way.In my free time I like to spin, knit, sew and translate Latin and Old English. I also enjoy comparing the folklore of various cultures, writing music and collecting trivia.

I believe that learning is a lifelong process and I feel fortunate to have been involved in the education of countless students over the past thirteen years. I began tutoring my peers in middle school after my parents pointed out that it would help reinforce my own knowledge. In preparation for the SATs, I attended a private test prep center where I learned specialized strategies for standardized tests. After receiving a perfect score of 800 on the math section of my SATs, I was invited to begin working at a private test prep company. My age and affable nature helped foster the relationship between younger, unruly students and their adult instructors.I received my Bachelor of Science in Physics from Florida Atlantic University and began tutoring college students, many of whom were returning to their education after taking time off. My most frequently tutored subjects include Mathematics (Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, Pre-Calculus, and Calculus), Physics, Chemistry, and standardized test prep (SAT, ACT, and GRE). My favorite subject to tutor would be Physics because of the multitude of ways that concepts can be used to intrigue students' curiosities, stimulate their creativity, or sometimes simply leave them in awe of the world in which they live. Additionally, the useful applications of Algebra and Geometry create opportunities to engage students by highlighting their practical value.I am fascinated by the different learning styles and how I can adapt my tutoring method to a student's specific strengths and weaknesses. When I begin with a new student, I focus on flexibility as we become accustomed to one another. As time progresses and we enact a personalized lesson plan, my expectations increase accordingly as does each student's accountability. I strongly believe that it behooves all learners to employ a useful toolkit of reasoning and comprehension skills. In addition to teaching the material for examinations, I devote a small fraction of our time to developing these abilities that will foster learning in many areas. During my free time, I enjoy traveling with my family to experience other cultures. My other hobbies include reading, playing chess, and building computers.

I am Lindsay. I am an avid lover of language, literature, writing, learning, artistic endeavors, athleticism, nutrition, and enhancement of the mind through those pursuits. That being said, I’d like to share my passion and enthusiasm for learning with you.I have been a teacher for 6 years. My teaching experiences are as follows:- middle school children English in the United States as a classroom assistant- middle school children English in Mexico as a lead teacher- American and international university age students Spanish as a part time instructor- high school age students Spanish as a high school teacher- international adults English at a non-profit center in Syracuse, as a student-teacher- kids yoga classes as the lead teacher- adult hatha yoga classes, asana, pranayama, meditation as the lead teacher- high school girls volleyball, basketball and track coachMy idea when I am teaching is that I am a facilitator. That means that you know how to do everything, you just don’t know that you know. My job is to show you that you have everything you need to do it yourself. Therefore, I ask questions to guide you, and in time you will see that you do indeed possess the necessary mental forces to complete the tasks before you of your own accord! When dealing with language, I use the communicative language approach, and focus on instilling a student-centered learning environment. I both create and ask the student to take part in creating course materials and shaping course content to foster interest in both learning and participating in their personal learning progress. I attempt to create an environment where a student feels no fear to ask questions, and is able to verbalize and communicate, and also is able to travel outside the classroom and use what we’ve learned in authentic contexts. I closely monitor student progress, and also am more than open to emailing and meeting at the student’s convenience. As far as my personality goes, I am a very caring, silly, open-minded individual. I genuinely am concerned for the welfare of those around me, which is why I am a yoga instructor. I also love academic pursuits, which is why I hope to be a tutor for who ever needs assistance.

I recently graduated from the Johns Hopkins University with a B.S. in Biomedical Engineering. My second major was Computer Science and my minor was Applied Mathematics and Statistics. Throughout my education, I have often felt that instructors explained the concepts at too high a level because they already understood them well. This can lead students to think they are not talented at a subject when in reality they just need more in-depth explanations. I believe that, given this support, all students can succeed, even in subjects that they may initially struggle in. In my classes, I would naturally explain practice questions to my peers because I learned by teaching. One of my professors noticed this and invited me to become a teaching assistant for Linear Algebra and Differential Equations, which I have taught on and off for the past four years and I have also taught Probability and Statistics once. Prior to college, I tutored students in calculus and Spanish. Currently, I tutor primarily in STEM subjects and Spanish. In particular, math and computer programming are some of my favorite subjects to tutor because they were the subjects that I was most challenged in and I know the work it takes to gain proficiency in this kind of material. My approach centers on breaking down big concepts into smaller, related concepts. I believe that each student should not simply memorize a certain result but rather understand how that result comes about. To that end, I ensure that students not only get the correct answer, but fully understand the reasoning needed to derive that answer. In the future, I hope to pursue a career as a physician-scientist. This fall I will be pursuing a Fulbright grant at the Max Planck Institute for Intelligent Systems to research sign language recognition using haptics and machine learning. In my spare time, I crochet, knit, play video games, read, watch birds, and try to improve my fitness with high-intensity interval training.
