I am a graduate of Boston University (B.S., Biomedical Engineering, Class of 2022) and M.D. candidate at Boston University School of Medicine. I have experience as a teaching assistant, undergraduate and high school level tutor, and extensive personal experience as a student in recent years. I tutor various math/science subjects such as biology, chemistry, statistics, and various levels of mathematics, along with preparation for the SAT. I have learned a multitude of study strategies, taken classes in basic algebra to advanced calculus and engineering principles, and ultimately feel that I can help students in similar situations improve their ability to understand content, synthesize information, and enhance their performance to reach their goals.

Since graduation I have been working as a teaching assistant at Fordham High School for the Arts under Blue Engine, an educational service affiliated with Americorps. Even before college I was a teaching assistant, tutor, and mentor to 6-8th graders under the REACH Program for Regis High School which serves academically gifted students whose families are in financial need. Interestingly enough, I too was once a student in the REACH Program. This is where my love of education and belief that a strong educational background is essential to advancing in life and improving one's circumstances. As an English tutor, I believe that reading comprehension and writing skills are essential to advancing in literary analysis as well as communicational skills. Through scaffolding questioning, deep text readings, and rigorous analytical writing, I believe any student can become a competent English student and communicator. In my spare time, I enjoy reading, film and television, as well as musical criticism.

First of all, and most importantly, I have to say that I love teaching. I am currently studying at the University of Georgia to be an English as a Second Language teacher and I can not imagine doing anything else. I have experience as a volunteer ESL tutor and I have also done some informal tutoring with friends and family, as well as several job shadows of ESL teachers working at an English language institute in Bogota, Colombia.As you may have gathered, I also just love languages. I have been studying Spanish for 4 years and Portuguese for a year and a half. I have also studied linguistics and the mechanics of language acquisition, which means that I am much better prepared to help you or your child develop strong skills in these languages.My first language is English, so I would also love to help you or your child with any issues involving English reading or writing skills, as well as SAT preparation, essay writing/proofreading, grammar and mechanics. I have been taking college level English courses since I was 15, and received two perfect scores on the SAT's Critical Reading and Writing Sections.I pride myself on being able to offer very clear explanations of complex concepts and ideas. I consider myself to be very well organized and prepared as well.

Tutors are more than expert academics; they are motivational coaches. The greatest obstacle preventing a student from learning is lack of belief in their own abilities. There is no knowledge outside the reach of anyone's understanding.

I am a graduate student studying physical therapy in Boston. I spent time during two of my undergraduate semesters as a volunteer tutor for an elementary student; it was such an amazing experience I wanted to do more! I also spent the past year nannying a ten year old girl and doing a lot of homework help. As a Division I college athlete I had to maintain an excellent work ethic and develop great time management skills. I am also extremely organized and responsible. Outside of academics, I like to spend my time doing yoga, hanging with friends, or reading a good book. Teaching involves the ability to adapt, patience, fluency with words, and empathy.
