I think the reason I'm drawn to the role of teacher is that it's a vocation I've always held. The oldest of four children, I've been tutoring my siblings for as long as I can remember. From helping my sister draft her high school essays to quizzing my brother on multiplication in the car, teaching is something that comes naturally to me.In high school, I expanded my teaching expertise by volunteering as a peer tutor in calculus, physics, and chemistry. It was gratifying to be able to help many of my classmates improve their grades and understanding of curriculum, and I picked up valuable experience working with students of many different capabilities and learning styles. I also spent a summer teaching young children as a bilingual literacy tutor at a nonprofit organization that serves immigrant families. My best attribute as a tutor is my patience. I never make assumptions about a student's current comprehension or fault them for a gap in understanding. Through guided, methodical problem solving and socratic questioning, I work with my students at their pace and in a manner that best suits their unique learning styles. As a tutor in math and science subjects, I believe that the greatest (and most challenging) problem solving skill is being able to bridge the gap between the physical and the mathematical; to translate the world we inhabit into numerical relations. The teaching I do is centered around overcoming this barrier: equipping students with the insight to think critically in a mathematical sense, the quantitative skills to apply that reasoning, and the curiosity to continually push their boundaries as learners.Originally from Green Bay, Wisconsin, I moved to the Boston area in 2014 to begin college at MIT. I am currently in the course of my undergraduate studies, pursuing a double major in physics and political science. I do research in biophysics and statistical mechanics, modeling colloidal systems to better understand molecular processes in cells and the possible origins of life on Earth. Outside of academia, I am a musician, an athlete, a reader, a cook, and an adventurous soul. I play saxophone in MIT's Festival Jazz Ensemble and enjoy skiing, hiking, watersports, cooking with my dad, hanging out with friends, and trying new things.

I attended Hamilton College where I studied Biology and Government and graduated in 2012. While in college I sang in both the college choir and an all-female a cappella group. I also had the opportunity to study abroad in Tanzania where I designed and conducted an independent study project. After graduating, I moved back to the Boston area and I am currently a student at Suffolk University Law School.I have had the privilege of working with students in both academic and non-academic settings. I was a tutor for second grade students while in college and watched my students grow into confident individuals with increased reading skills. I also worked as a sailing instructor for several years at a junior sailing club where I taught introductory racing, basic navigation, and basic sailing to kids ages 8-14.I strongly believe that all students have the ability to succeed in school with hard work and dedication. Much of that capacity for success comes from students believing in themselves, and I hope to encourage students to be confident in their ability to succeed in the classroom and in life. I have a passion and enthusiasm for learning that I want to share with others. By strengthening academic development, students can also strengthen personal development and I hope to use my experiences to help students be successful and reach their goals.

Learning can happen anywhere, at anytime! I have been working with students and children of all ages for over ten years, in settings anywhere from daycare, to hockey camp, or Spanish Immersion school. I spent the last year teaching fourth grade math in an under-performing public school. In September I will begin working towards my Master's Degree in Theology. As a teacher I aim to determine the specific manner in which a student learns best. Meeting the individual learning needs of each student creates a fun learning environment! I believe that every student has the ability to achieve incredible things and I will guide them to that by maintaining a positive and encouraging environment.I graduated from Trinity College with a double major in Spanish and Religion. I absolutely love tutoring a wide range of subjects including Spanish, Math, English and Religion. In my free time I enjoy being active and playing sports, especially hockey, soccer and softball. I also love to run, roller-blade, and read.

I received my B.S. in Neuroscience and Behavioral Biology from Emory University with a minor in Spanish. I am currently working toward my M.S. in Medical Sciences at Boston University School of Medicine. In college, I worked with a high school student, for his 9th grade year, focusing mostly on his biology and writing assignments. I was a research coordinator at the Marcus Autism center where I worked with very young kids (ages 2-9) with and without learning disabilities. We worked on general school-related skills and any homework they brought. In my master's program, I did a lot of group study. Frequently, this meant teaching a group of my peers who needed to see the material presented in a new way. I love learning and I want to help others love it, too. Throughout my studies, grades never just came easily to me. I was constantly working at getting better and trying to figure out how to solve problems in many different ways. With this type of experience, I want to help other students who may be struggling with a concept to get to a place where they see how fun and rewarding it can be to really understand the material. I tutor a wide variety of topics; however, my favorites are biology and anatomy. Biology is so exciting for me because it is the foundation for all of life, and helps us understand the world we live in. Anatomy is great because you are living in your own cheat sheet (your body)! When I am tutoring, I want to hear or see my students' thought processes. It's great if you can get to the right answer, but truly learning means knowing how you got there. So, I love having my students teach the concepts back to me. Outside of school, I play slow-pitch softball and I love to cook and bake.

I'll start off by giving you a bit of background about myself. I graduated in May 2020 with a BS in Biology from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. My long-term goal is to become a physician and help shape the way healthcare is accessed and delivered on the African continent, which is where I'm from. The bulk of my teaching experience comes from being a teaching assistant in college. Through that experience, I realized how much I love seeing students make that gradual transition from anxiety about the course content to confidence and even passion. It's remarkable to be a part of and that's why I've decided to be a tutor. You're probably here because you have academic goals you'll like to reach and so far, you haven't been able to do that on your own. Maybe the road ahead seems so daunting that you're afraid to start. Or maybe you've already started down that road only to be overwhelmed by the formidability of the challenge. Whatever the case may be, I'm here for you. I believe that you harbor great potential and am confident that with the right amount of effort and consistency, you will realize the goals you have. Let me help!

I'm currently a third year student at Northeastern University studying Economics and Business with a concentration in marketing. I enjoy teaching Micro and Macro economics, calculus for economics, US history and US government, as well as a variety of reading, writing, and public speaking skills, at all skill levels. I've worked with students teaching basic principles of economics, and have worked on higher level theory classes, and feel comfortable teaching all levels of economics. I've worked teaching as debate coach at the Boston Latin School and as an instructor at the Harvard Summer Debate Camp Workshop, and have worked with high school students across the country, teaching them about current politics, economics, philosophy, and international relations. I think my most effective tutoring skill is that I'm able to take large and complex ideas and explain them in a clear and effective way that anyone can understand.

I am a graduate from the University of Minnesota- Twin Cities with a degree in Genetics, Cell Biology, and Development. I have been tutoring children from the age of four up to 18 for the past seven years and have enjoyed every minute of it. I regularly tutor in math and reading, for students up to 12th grade. I struggled with academics in elementary school, and had a tutor who instilled a deep passion for learning in me then. I strive to share my knowledge and enthusiasm with everyone I work with, and create a personalized plan for each student. I am heavily involved in research in the medical field, and hope to become a doctor one day. Aside from work, I enjoy reading, going on hikes, and exploring new places.

Hello, my name is Andrew, and I just graduated from St. Mary's Preparatory: a small, all-boys, prep school in Orchard Lake, Michigan. Next year I will be attending the University of Michigan: Ann Arbor with an intended major in Biology with a minor or double major in Spanish. Unlike many older tutors, I know what it is like to be a struggling high school student in today's world. I understand how much pressure you are under to get the score you need to be admitted into your dream school, and I am here to help you reach that score! I also understand how tedious college essays can be, and how important they are. I know the mechanics behind writing a strong admissions essay and the power of proofreading! For those students not quite ready for college applications, I can also tutor in Spanish 1,2,3 and English/Grammar. I have been taking Spanish classes for twelve years and have never received below an A: something I attribute to my deep interest in the language. I love the Spanish language and culture, and I love to share that passion with others. I know that Spanish class can be boring and extremely confusing at times, but with a little enthusiasm it can also become one of your favorite classes. I hope to hear from you soon!
