Tutoring review by Joseph in Tuttle, OK
The student and I went over a new chapter to help prepare her for upcoming lectures in class. We started by going over her teacher's lecture slides, and the concepts within them. The concepts included formulas for circles (area and circumference), quadrilaterals (trapezoids and kites areas), and regular polygons. We went over several example problems in the textbook as well. The most challenging problems dealt with polygons areas, in which we had to find the apothem and interior angles. We reviewed several of these problems until the student was comfortable with this concept.

Tutoring review by Jacob in Tuttle, OK
In this session, we focused on the math and writing sections of the exam. The student did a great job with the writing section, and the only things that gave him questions on the section were less common modifiers that create singular pronouns (each/ every as opposed to either and neither). We also went over some grammar rules such as when to use between and among when comparing objects. The student is making good progress on the math as well. He is quick to start calculating, which is a good thing 90% of the time. However, when there are simpler ways to solve something or when the answers provided could be better eliminated using logic, it might be better for the student to use alternative techniques. Overall, he is a very conscientious learner and has been putting more logic into his problem solving than he was previously.

Tutoring review by Melissa in Tuttle, OK
Saturday was my first meeting with this student. He wanted to first review a past section where he had missed some on the test. We went over completing the square two ways, quadratic equation problems and system of equations. We also reviewed notes from class for his upcoming quiz. We went over axis of symmetry, vertex, finding ax^2+b given two points, and estimating a graph by finding number of 0's. I believe we covered a lot in the first session. He hopes to meet at least once a week in general.
