I am a Texas state and Ohio state licensed teacher, currently teaching 4th grade at a public elementary school in Houston. In my eight years of teaching, I have taught Chinese language and culture to elementary, middle and high school students. In the mean time, I directed language enrichment program and developed curriculum for all K-12 grade levels.

I am a graduate of National Taiwan University. I received my Bachelor of Science in Biochemical Science and Technology. While I tutor a broad range of subjects, I am most passionate about Math, Science, and Mandarin Chinese. Having struggled with these subjects myself in high school, I understand the difficulties and discrimination faced by students in the classroom setting.

I am proficient in both Pinyin and Mandarin Phonetic Symbols and can write professionally in both Simplified and Traditional Chinese. I have studied linguistics, phonology, semantic, and Chinese paleography and have used them to facilitate my teaching with great success; I am also very familiar with both contemporary and ancient Chinese literature. I am really excited to become a tutor at Varsity Tutors. Currently, I am retired from a career in accounting. I have a master degree in accounting from University of Texas (Arlington), a master degree in education from Harvard University and a Bachelor degree in Psychology from National Taiwan University. I was born and raised in Taiwan but have lived in the U.S. for almost 34 years.

I am a native speaker of Mandarin Chinese. I was born and raised in Taiwan, went to grad school at NYU for Foreign Language Education: Chinese and TESOL. I am a certified TESOL and Mandarin teacher in New York and am currently a middle school Mandarin teacher in Connecticut. I have many experiences in tutoring TESOL when I was back in Taiwan. I speak fluent English and beginner level of Korean.

I am very passionate about the pursuit of knowledge and committed to the idea that all my students will reach their full potential through education. Most importantly, I am very patient and compassionate, because I understand and respect each individual's specialized strength.

I am interested in teaching high school and middle school math, including algebra, geometry, trigonometry, and calculus. I have passion about math and would like to share my study experience with people.
