I am a sophomore at Rice University majoring in mechanical engineering with a minor in business and certificate in engineering leadership. My goal as a tutor is to be able to establish trust between my students and I by encouragement and motivation. If a student can leave a tutoring session having learned something and happy, my job is complete :D

I'm open to many different physician specialties, but have found psychiatry, neurosurgery, and orthopedics the most interesting so far. Other fun facts about me are that I've been skydiving 25 times (certified), biked from Austin, Texas to Anchorage Alaska to raise money and awareness for cancer research as part of the UT organization Texas 4000, and worked at a haunted house this past October.

I am a graduate of Our Lady of the Lake University, where I received a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting and a Biliterate Degree in Spanish. During my studies there, I worked part-time as a Business and Spanish tutor, and I also assisted students reviewing essay grammar and style. Tutoring was always the favorite part of my day because my goal each time was for the students to leave feeling more confident in their subject matter and with a smile. As a former student athlete, I am quite too familiar that struggles in the classroom can be due to external events. That is why my style of tutoring is holistic. Since I care about the well-being of my clients, I make it a point to be personable and to offer suggestions to improve academic performance. I am a graduate of Washington University in St. Louis, where I received my Bachelor of Arts degree in Art History & Archaeology with a secondary major in History. I focused on medieval art and history and wrote my senior thesis on the Byzantine Basilica of San Vitale in Ravenna, Italy. Currently I am a Masters student in Art History at Southern Methodist University. Throughout my undergraduate education, I have taught and tutored children in various ways. My junior year of college I was a religious school teacher for First Graders. During the summer of 2012, I was an intern at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, at the Cloister's Museum and Gardens (which is a part of the Medieval Department). Throughout the summer, I led five to six, one hour tours throughout the galleries, teaching students from the ages of five to eighteen, all about medieval art. Additionally, I was inducted into Mortar Board National College Senior Honor Society my senior year of college. One of Mortar Board's missions is to help promote literacy. My chapter of the honor society worked with InspireSTL, a St. Louis based tutoring program, which places talented low-income middle school students into the region's top college-prep high schools and supports their ongoing academic progress, offering them a wide range of tutoring and financial assistance. As a group, we helped tutor the students several times a week. Working with InspireSTL I was asked to tutor a very wide range of subjects - everything from geometry to history to biology, to being asked to set up an impromptu grammar and sentence diagramming class! While I love the subjects of History and English, and have tutored and taught most subjects, I have realized that Standardized Test preparation is one of the most important steps in your education. With the right mentality and training, those tests can be an easy stepping-stone into the college of your dreams. I love learning and teaching and strongly believe that everyone deserves a world-class education, and I hope to be able to instill that desire in my students. I'm currently attending Rice University- pursuing a double major Bachelor of Arts in Applied Mathematics and Mathematical Economics. As you can probably tell I'm very passionate about math, and I'm even more passionate about teaching it! I prefer to teach math a little differently than some of you may used to. Many of students think of math as a plug and chug approach- simply being given formulas and plugging numbers in. While I will give you the formulas and critical things to remember if you insist on it, I prefer to teach mathematics as a form of problem solving. How math works is a beautiful thought process- understanding how a formula was conceived is much more rewarding than simply memorizing it. But in the end it's all up to you- the student. If you want a fast run-down of everything you need to know to ace the test- I'll happily help you. However, if you're willing to think outside of the box and learn some very neat stuff, I'll open the doors to mathematical problem solving for you!

I am experienced in tutoring math, science, English, and the environmental sciences, but my favorite subjects to tutor are beginner's Chinese, reading and writing skills, and essay writing and revision. Over the years, I've seen that every student has an individual, personalized learning style, and I strongly believe it is important for tutors to match their teaching styles to the student. I am graduate of Brown University, where I received a degree in Economics and studied topics ranging from Computer Science and Applied Math to Literary Arts and Philosophy. I even helped create a class during my senior year, working together with other students to write a syllabus, gather reading materials, schedule guest speakers, and ultimately, present the results to an academic dean for course credit. After graduation, I moved to Hong Kong, where I worked at a a summer program at the University of Hong Kong, in partnership with the Johns Hopkins University Center for Talented Youth, as a Teaching Assistant in a Game Theory class for advanced middle school students. After the program ended, I traveled around Asia, visiting places in Malaysia and Vietnam before eventually returning to the American South, where, as a native North Carolinian, I feel at home. I usually prefer tutoring in subjects involving math and social sciences but I am very flexible. Outside of education, I love playing guitar and piano, and I have released music both as a solo artist and as part of a band. I also like to play disc golf and lacrosse and enjoy participating in fantasy football.

I'm a student at Vanderbilt University pursuing a BA in Cognitive Studies and a minor in Corporate Strategies. I have worked at the Mama Lere Hearing School at the Vanderbilt Medical Center for deaf preschoolers as well as volunteered as a first grade Sunday School teacher. In addition, I have had multiple ongoing volunteer positions as a tutor in schools in low-income areas in the subjects of Algebra I/II and English Language Arts. I have had the privilege of helping these students rise up beyond the any expectations, and I believe that a large part of their success comes not only from tutoring but from mentorship. I am a current student at Rice University studying Mathematics and Computer Science. I have lots of tutoring experience, having tutored kids at my high school and at-risk youth. I'm Sakib, a graduate student at Rice, studying computational & applied mathematics. I have been tutoring ever since high school in a variety of subjects. I have been a Teaching Assistant for Calculus I & II, and Organic Chemistry I & II. I have also taught SAT for Kaplan for years and privately taught SAT, SAT Math/Chemistry as well as AP subject exams.

I am passionate about students learning the wonderful Spanish language! I teach all levels of Spanish, including Conversational Spanish and SAT Subject Tests. While I am not Hispanic, I took Spanish classes every year from the second grade through high school. I then went to Rice University for college, where I took a Spanish class every semester, including a medical Spanish interpreting internship. After that I went to medical school, where I worked as a Spanish medical interpreter for doctors and launched a Medical Spanish curriculum. I also love movies, music, and books in Spanish. I know what it's like approaching this language from the outside, and I have a lot of helpful tricks to break down and simplify the language. I am a graduate of Texas A&M University; I received a Bachelor of Science in Biology along with being a minor in Spanish. I also studied at Plano ISD in high school. As Plano ISD is recognized for its academic achievements and competitiveness, I have always been positively challenged by my curriculum and by my peers to improve and to push myself to excel. From a young age, I have always been a part of the Gifted and Talented program. Trying to challenge myself and wanting to be different, I took a risk and joined the International Baccalaureate (IB) Program, a program that was not as well recognized at the time and was extremely difficult. Joining the IB program was the best decision I have taken thus far. I gained knowledge from all around world- different insights, different histories, different philosophies, different literature, etc.

I am currently a sophomore at Dartmouth College. I am a double major in Economics modified with Computer Science and English, so I have a broad range of experiences with both liberal arts and stem.
