- After spending 30 years as an attorney in Kentucky, I decided in my retirement to return to my first love, teaching.
About Me
I completed my undergraduate degree in English / Language Arts, but then decided to pursue my Juris Doctorate. I have practiced in courts throughout the state, but found the greatest satisfaction working with at-risk kids in the juvenile court system. Consequently, when I retired two years ago, I decided to spend my second career in education. I am pursuing my Rank II and my specialist certification in LBD (Learning and Behavior Disorders) education. I have also had the opportunity to work in adult education, as I was called upon to host continuing legal education training and to teach classes for the Commonwealth of Kentucky Department of Criminal Justice Training. Because of my long career in government, I also very much enjoy teaching social studies and criminal justice programs. I feel that bringing real world experience on top of academia lends me a unique perspective in those areas.
Hobbies & Interests
Hello! I am a homebody who loves the quiet of the outdoors. I find peace in hiking or camping on my own or with a few close friends and family. Nothing replaces going to sleep with the crickets and waking with the sparrows. I am an animal lover, and currently share my space with one very spoiled fluffy dog, and a leopard gecko who has outlived any lifespan the vet predicted! My friends have told me that I would "rescue" a chupacabra if I could get close enough, and that's likely true! I am also an avid reader; mostly fantasy and sci-fi. My taste in movies runs the same, and I love an old fashioned RPG. My friends and I are currently trying to write a campaign involving Appalachian Cryptids! Now who could resist that!!
